If you could leave your current life to go on an adventure, where would you go and how long would you be gone? What would you take? Who would you bring with you?
i want to go camping. i want someone to drop me and my boy child off at some forest full river side camp site and just come back for us right when we are tired of sleeping on the ground :D please send us with a goodly tent, a tarp, plenty of food and matches and cook wear, and cards and a book or two and sun screen and bug repellent and probably lots of Gatorade and water to drink. towels and a few things to wear. and probably a neighbourly person who comes and plays guitar for us every couple of nights but not every night… and please have a beach with in walking distance. perhaps for like the next 3 weeks?!
@BelleMadre are you planning on having to go back to civilization often? I did a backpacking canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canada. The reason I’m asking is because you’d need to have freeze dried food for portability. If not, you’d need to return to civilization reasonably often to buy ice and fresh food. Not much would last 3 weeks out of civilization unless you like LOTS of canned goods, but then there’s the issue of weight!
@Jear77 this is a fair concern, and to be honest, aside from a 3 nighter 2 years ago, i havent been camping in a long while, but ive done lots of camping when i was younger, 2 week stints, with groups and portaging…one summer job was to pack the foods for campers long trips, so i have the experience to help me make a good menu. the only time i allow powdered milk is when camping :D (lots of dried boilable stuff like rice and oats and corn meal) and yes some dehydrated stuff comes in handy for sure! usually we use the fresh stuff up in the first couple of days, the treats like hard eggs and fruit… kolbasa is alright for a good amount of time too! cheese if wrapped right. id have to make lots of corn bread before hand altho ive seen some cool attempts at baked stone baking! and then its on to the dried fruits and boilables… and honey i already live on peanut butter and rice cakes :D maybe our guitar playing neighbour can also fish :D
i suppose a weekly trip in to town is a good idea. but i believe we could make it a good while!
I like finding old ghost towns and walking through them. I imagine the people that lived there and look at the names at the cemetery graves. Sometimes when Immortal Pirate and I find quaint wild west towns that are still inhabited, we stroll down the main street and stop to eat somewhere. We like the old fashioned Ice Cream Parlors.
Every day is an adventure, you just have to be open to experiencing it. A trip to the local grocery store or a Wal-Mart can be an adventure, you can meet and interact with all kinds of interesting characters at a Wal-Mart.
@Jear77 One day Immortal Pirate found an old NAVY guy in his 80s that still had pictures of his ship in his wallet and his stories went on, and on, and on, for more than a half hour. Immortal Pirate broke out of listening to the stories after about a half hour, but I stayed and listened until he was all talked out. The guy was having such a good time with having someone who would really listen to him, I wasn’t going to stop him. He was adorable. Old people are thrilled to have someone who will listen to the history they have to tell about.
For someone who drives all over the continent for a living I think it would be quite adventurous to spend a month at home doing ” stay at home” stuff!
But if it was a Pure Fantasy Adventure I would like to sail around the world on a small ketch taking about a year exploring little Islands indigenous cultures.

@BelleMadre You will want camping food, too. Bring marshmallows and straightened metal coat hangers.
