The need to know is just “knowledge”. And unless knowledge is consummate, it can be dangerous.
The desire to understand is “wisdom”.
I would rather be insanely wise than just insanely knowledgeable!
He does run off on some interesting tangents; but as a way of clarifying the core premise or supposition.
It’s been observed before that the office of the genius is often cluttered!
Harmony is one of the coolest things ever. whether it is the simple musical versions or the ones that are related to human interaction.
I think a very important issue is that we each, as individuals, start by wanting harmony. Stuff blends if we start with that desire and just won’t if you purposely sing a note that is off. For some reason it seems there is this human characteristic that demands to be off key to feel like an individual. That, I think can be described as mental illness. Probably scientifically provable as those individuals feel a rush of positive hormones when they cause others pain.
I like his categorization of Jesus as a meta hero, although, part of that starts with wanting Him to represent that.

The professor here talks about ideologies as subsets of the human nature that band together and normalize a set of Perceptions and ideas that service them emotionally.
They can be complementary and in harmony with the overarching reality of Life. Or they can be destructive in discordant to it. The latter caters to selfish individualistic purposes. The former to nobler for collective purposes.
The ideologies that have stood the test of time, we label as history. They work and for the most part have been proven to work because we are still here.
