Angels Down, I confess…I am lost…

Another day in America.

Haus of Gaga presents:

Angel Down

I confess I am lost
In the age of the social
On our knees, take a test
To be lovin’ and grateful

Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet
Angel down, angel down
But the people just stood around

I’m a believer, it’s a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down
I’m a believer, it’s chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down

Doesn’t everyone belong
In the arms of the sacred?
Why do we pretend we’re wrong?
Has our young courage faded?

Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet
Angel down, angel down
Why do people just stand around?

I’m a believer, it’s a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down
I’m a believer, it’s chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down

Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo

I’m a believer, it’s a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down
I’m a believer, it’s chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I’d rather save an angel down

Save that angel
Catch that angel
Save that angel
Catch that angel
Save that angel
Catch that angel
Save that angel
Catch that angel
Catch that angel

    Dear Gina,

I am trying so hard to try and understand what you are feeling. I haven’t made any comments on this latest example of lunacy, because I just can’t focus on a single emotion as I consider the senselessness.

I shift from sadness to anger and try to try and put thus into an objective context in an effort to understand why. It makes me wonder why I need to know why?

I am stuck in a place of utter confusion, very similar to my emotional state after 9-11. I just can’t seem to grasp how anyone can take the time out of their lives to plan and prepare to destroy, rather than focus their efforts towards trying to build.

I want to offer condolences in the same scale of the crime, but I don’t see that as anything beyond some superficial attempt to selfishly feel like I am doing something…anything in response to my feelings of sadness.

However, by stepping it down multiple notches, I can say just to you, who I know is hurting in the same confused aura of sadness, anger and perhaps even objectivity associated with the stupidity of all parties guilty of contributing to this craziness, that I support you. As small a gesture as that may be, know that it is sincere.

And thank you. Reading your words, even when aggressively delivered, never seems to be anything but genuine, well thought out positions associated with wanting things to be better. I hear love at your root, not fear. Stay strong.

@spitfire3dc Thank you for sending this Brian. It was the first thing I read this morning, and it was very comforting. You do know how I feel. We feeling very much the same thing. I have the added burden that I live in the country that is letting itself down in so many ways.

As you noticed, I always look for a song that speaks for me. Lady Gaga’s, Angel Down is perfect. She wrote this in response to the shooting and murder of teenager, Trayvon Martin.

And as the late, great Tom Petty sang:

      Well, I won’t back down
      No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
      But I won’t back down

      No, I’ll stand my ground
      Won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
      Gonna stand my ground

      Well I know what’s right
      I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
      But I’ll stand my ground
