“The biochemicals secreted in the brain during the experience of anger—most notably the hormone epinephrine and the neurotransmitter norepinephrine—are experienced much like an amphetamine and an analgesic. They give a surge of energy while they numb pain.”-https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/anger-in-the-age-entitlement/202001/the-most-common-addiction-angerresentment

Whew! In not an anger junkie!
I wonder if people who find themselves in an agitated state self-reflect on the (sometimes) displaced anger. Mindfulness is a thing that may not be innate for some, but it’s there. It just takes practice and pragmatism. I think.
When in an agitated state of mind, I get quiet and walk away. But, put me in a corner where I have no escape and tell me that you intend to rape me, attack me in any way, I will fight my way out. Not in anger, but in fear. No matter how tall and husky a man is, kick him in the balls and he is bending forward. The next move is to catch the downward momentum of his head and bring your knee up to break his nose. Is that anger??? No. It is fear and reflex like dancing. After that move that brings him down, that would be the time to get out of there and beyond his reach. — or a man in a suit with a tie that grabs me from behind. I will reach for the narrow part of his tie (the part behind the wide front part) and I will pull it with my full weight — hanging on it like a May pole swing. If I am wearing high heels, my heel will stab the top of his foot. Am I angry??? No. I just want to cut off his air supply and put a hurt on him. He grabbed me from behind. He may get kicked in the balls, but I am not going to let go of his tie. He is going to have to let me know if he intends to harm me, but with his air supply still cut off. It is not anger. It is fear. It is reflex from being attacked. My desire is to get away from him. My desire is to stop the threat. Now, get me in an agitated state and I will walk away. You will cease to exist in my world. I lose energy about you and no longer care for you. Hate and love are two sides of the same coin. The only thing worse is pure apathy and no longer caring .
Anger is not bad. It is all in how we manage it. The opposite of depression actually is not happiness. It is anger. Anger gets the nervous system moving. An angry nervous system is a mobile nervous system. I do get angry and I try and do something constructive with it like exercise or call congress.
