Every once in a while I hear something that resonates significantly and today it was a line in a movie. “You don’t make mistakes. Mistakes make you”
The bigger the mistake, the bigger the potential learning that can come from it and the willingness to take risks is everything in terms of greater rewards…and I am not talking about material rewards.
So many of us are chicken shits who look for the easy trail and some of us even think we’re smart because we take the safe route. But at the end of the day, how will our obituary read? They played it safe.
Here’s to the crazy ones that took a leap and looked self doubt in the eye and said fuck that!
@spitfire3dc sounds reasonably awake. When I reflect on what you said about mistakes, I think of mistakes as the biggest way we learn. There is a second way, too that is also significant. Not so much mistakes as the tragedies and the pains we endure. I see them as empathy 101.
When you think about awake tho, is there something else. Like if you’re alone in nature, wherein you have something, a feeling, I don’t know what it is, but it is wherein, you don’t see a “you” anymore.
@Scarlett That has happened to me on more than a few occasions and it is usually associated with times when I am writing.
Something very peculiar occurs when I am trying to convey a concept through metaphoric description, where I am in this zone that feels a step closer, yet still a step away from this sense of enlightenment. It almost feels like I am being teased to want to get closer with a realization that nothing will ever be the same. However, there is this slight sense of fear too that makes me want to hang on to the Me that remains specific and maybe relevant.
This previous paragraph is an example in a way. I’ll re-read it like I didn’t write it because somehow it feels like I didn’t. When I read it, it feels like someone is trying to tell me something. I actually spend time trying to figure out what I mean.
I don’t expect many to tune into what I write to the same extent I experience. I suppose that’s the difference between an ok writer and a great one…or maybe its an ok reader and a great one. A reader needs to be intentional about wanting to take something away from written stimulation, or all it becomes is mindless data entry. It takes a great deal of effort, at least from my POV, to try to place oneself in the mind of the writer.
I’m thinking that I am heading closer to actually answering your question. sometimes when I read an autobiography, with intensity, I can feel like I am “thinking” through someone else and that takes me away from the “Me”
@yin when you say “imperfect” world, what do you base that on? Is it possible it only seems imperfect to us because of our ego’s wills? Being seperate from the will?
@Scarlett It is my mind that is imperfect, for I have my own mental issues, laziness, and biases. As for the world, it is the information and narrative that we are fed and the truth that is intentionally hidden from us. I can’t be totally awake if I don’t have access to that knowledge. I am awake as possible considering these things.
im awake to my closest living life right now. the rest of the big bad scary world is like a dream sequence going on over There some where. i cant get into that dream right now cause i have so much right here calling to me
I am in a constant process of awakening to my own potential. I still don’t know what my full capabilities are but I’m learning more all the time. I don’t think anyone can be fully awake because, as some have said here, we NEVER have all the information.

Is that awake enough for you?

I hope I am.
As much as this world, this imperfect mind, and this unhealthy body allows me to be.
