This is from a lecture on the strong correlation between values and structure.
There are a lot of deconstructionist agendas at work in society right now (which btw map on to Marxism). The pop notion is that structure and hierarchies are in some way “evil” because they involve contending and competing (with negative feelings loading with personalities high in trait-neuroticism): and also because they can lead to cheating and corruption (in personalities of low trait-conscientiousness).
So do you think this would make the postmodernist structure of no-structure and value of no-values at least superficially attractive?
What long-term negative consequences might arise?

Historically, structured society was based on assumed value of tangible goods. Starting with clam shells, then glass beads, then gold & silver, beaver pelts, more gold & silver, opium, then gold & silver again, then oil in all it’s forms (to include whale oil), and back to gold & silver. Commodity based wealth has always been a driving motivator, along with greed for more control of resources both natural and man made, and the many conflicts resulting from the desire to acquire said tangible commodities. Ever constant in the quest for more is gold & silver. It had become the golden rule of history; “he who has the most gold makes the rules.” Therein lies the root of all conflicts arising from that desire to have it all.
Then there are those who, like me, who have no desire to partake of the madness. Where is it written that I (we) should follow their rules simply because they hold all the gold?
Was it not Christ who said, “Store up not your treasure on earth. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all will be added unto you.” …or something to that effect?
The heart of mankind is wickedness and his greed shall be his undoing. (long-term negative consequences)

Isn’t that more “structured economy”? While economy is a big part of Human society, animals enjoy the benefits of society where the structure is more in the value of shared goals (community protection) than any form of currency.
Don’t you think there are valuable things in society . . . other than things that glitter?
