I’ve been doing pretty well for myself. Life has its ups and downs of course but my unwavering optimism and pluckiness always gets me through those tough times. How have you been?
@mamajoy Do you still live in Hawaii? Did the fires get near you? I have friends who had their whole family lose their houses to that horrible fire, but they lived through it. I thought of you a lot during the fires. I hope you are OK. —- Well, you are typing, so I know you still have your fingers. It is so nice to hear from you!
@ladybarbara Yep, still out here on an island and yes, I’ve got all my fingers and things. We weren’t impacted by the fires but it was a heartbreaking situation for so many. These past few years we’ve really seen a lot of damages from these crazy wildfires.

@ladybarbara Stinky is doin’ alright. She’s getting older and having some health issues, but for the most part, she’s good. She’ll be 15 this year. hehe I haven’t been playing with any groups lately. The handful of people I was playing with moved on in what way or another. It’s been a couple of years. I do random music stuff on the internet when I get a chance, but not as much as I would like. For not, it’s just a daily routine of practice. hehe Hope you’ve both been well. :)
@barryjack We have been well in spite of Immortal Pirate having prostate cancer. He had his prostate removed and he has had five years of cancer treatments to lower his testosterone and starve the cancer. It has mellowed him, but he still has a weird sense of humor. He retired from being a prison Correctional Officer and started building guitars in his home workshop. He built cigar box guitars, and round guitars. Four string guitars. He was selling them. But now, we have a room full of guitars. With his cancer treatments, he is less active. I am caretaker and chief bottle washer. Owning a home is a job in itself, taking care of everything. I think of you and little Stinky now and then. Little Stinky won’t last forever. That is the sad thing about doggie ownership. One day they take that one-way trip to the vet and you have to say a tearful good-bye. It is nice to reconnect with you on here!

Old lady is still here!!! I’m Lady Barbara. I stopped visiting Immortal Pirate, sold my house in Norwalk, California, purchased half of Immortal Pirate’s house. we have a registered Domestic Partnership. We now live together in Arizona. I moved out of California in 2017 and have been with Immortal Pirate for 8 happy years. He has been fighting cancer for the last five years. It was prostate cancer. I told him that “If you get cancer in a body part you can live without it, then have it removed.” He had his prostate removed and he is getting better (better than what? I don’t know) Things are improving all the time. We never fight and he is the best partner I have ever had.

@praisepatience Thank you. My hobby is gardening, which was easy in California soil, but the soil here in Phoenix is salty sand. So, I am learning to garden in containers and planters. Even with that, the Summer heat will cook and kill my garden, then I start over in August. It is challenging.
Immortal Pirate not only played guitar and his cookie-tin banjo, but when he retired he built cigar box guitars, banjos, and round guitars. He was selling them and we have a room full of guitars. The going joke when there is something scrap is, “You are thinking that you are going to make a guitar out of that, aren’t you.”
@ladybarbara Save that cake box cover…I can make a banjo from that…maybe.
@Immortalpirate You know I do. When I opened up the cinnamon roll pack, I cleaned out the little frosting cup for you. I never know what you are going to make of things.

Life. I can give the highlights. Graduated grad school in social work. My dad got hurt at work, almost died. Refocused life. Retired early
(quit) my job and moved with my family to a farm in Alabama. Now I work with horses.
What in the world caused the rebirth of this mad experiment?
Anyway… I’m not dead yet.
