How much of you is you… and how much of it is controlled by chemistry? Let’s say you’re the most well controlled person and exposed to massive amounts of lead that eventually get into your brain. Conversely, let’s say you’re the most out of control person and get exposed to massive amounts of lithium
If who we are is a byproduct of exposure to things that we may or may not have any control over, and it can be proven that the chemicals in our lives had not only a detrimental effect, but were the main cause in our behaviors… are we ultimately responsible for our resulting actions?

Chemtrails are being sprayed in the sky everyday. As those chemicals and poisons drop down to your level, you breathe that in. Just behind your sinus cavity is your brain. Not only are they poisoning the air you breathe, they are adding toxic chemicals to your water. Welcome to the world we now live in.
There can always be “reasons beyond our control” . . . IF one wishes to take time out from adult life to hunt for them.
But using them as excuses to not take adult responsibility for ourselves?
This is the process of children — always looking for something other to blame than themselves. If sufficient “outside elements” render someone beyond the adult ability to be accountable for themselves, they should be treated like children.
This is NOT the process of adults. And particularly not of successful adults.
Contrast someone of obvious affliction (ie, Stephen Hawking) that is loathe to use it even as “a reason” . . . with someone of no serious affliction looking for excuses . . . .
Victim-hood thinking is at epidemic stages.
@griz there are drugs you could be administered to you against your will, that no matter your willpower, no matter how you grit your teeth to “man up” or take responsibility to not do the drug again, you basically have no choice in the matter. These drugs are so permanently addicting that it’s impossible to beat. Irrespective of ANY other factors
@Jear77
And how often does one encounter them in daily life?
What are the chances of either of us having to deal with them? And should it happen, I will deal with it effectively by the power of God.
This is less a post about the possibilities out there as it is one about random excuses.
@griz Daily. Constantly. It’s inescapable. Unless you grow your own food… but even that you need to be careful with not to get genetically modified organisms
The cheese you ate was most likely wrapped in (or found in its shredded form) plastic.
That prewrapped burger you got from the fast food joint? The paper is coated with a type of waxy plastic which is a carcinogen. Carcinogens that float around your body that may end up in your brain, where a tumor forms affecting your behavior.
Even those Styrofoam boxes aren’t safe to eat out of can give problems because the body recognizes the chemicals of things that it’s not.
The dye in the skittles you ate, even though its GRAS (generally regarded as safe) is made from petroleum products that poke holes in your gut and give you a lot of other problems
And when you thought “ah-hah I’ll be smart and get only that which comes out of tiny paper boxes at the Chinese food restaurant. Sis bad for males because it mimics estrogen (y’know the hormone that makes women what they are)
The soda you drink (unless you get stuff that has pure sugar in it) has high fructose corn syrup which does a LOT of nasty things to the body.
All of these things end up affecting the gut bacteria. There’s scientific proof that a person’s gut bacteria directly affects who they are and fecal transplants can give people a new outlook on life.
Even microwaving things can be seen as bad because it’s irradiating food. Who knows what leeches into your body from even glassware put into it?
I wrote at least 5 articles on the interconnectedness of such things and a person’s body.
@Jear77
So are you trying to say that everything you eat excuses you from responsibility for consequences of your actions?
You started this topic with the extremes — things that might put you totally beyond personal responsibility without your awareness — and administered against your will. Let’s keep the red herrings away from this initial premise until we fully break it down.
I specifically asked how often the average person would be exposed to this in their life?
@griz I’m saying the AVERAGE person is exposed to this INFINITE times a day! Even SOAP is harmful!
@Jear77
Physical life is harmful! The proof, is that we all die!
So the wisest path would seem to be training oneself to “default” to healthier options and not spend so much time worrying about the minutia.
@griz I’m surprised that you realize this… seeing how you ramble on about life.
@Jear77
Fold in what I just offered on the Schrodinger’s cat scenario.
I perhaps have a “quantum particle in superposition” in God that you never did. I can simultaneously be of physicality (flesh) that is dying; and of God’s Spirit that never will.
This goes FAR beyond just want religion taught you or groomed to see, to consider, to expect.
@Jear77 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!! I am going to wrap myself in Suran Wrap and hide under the bed. Aaaaaqaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh! again. Suran Wrap is PLASTIC!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!
Now I am hungry. I am going to Del Taco. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
I eat puny chemicals fur breakfast!
@luftballooneyegouge and chemicals eat YOU in return!
My father suffered brain damage, is mentally unstable and makes our family life miserable. He is responsible for refusing to see a doctor all these years.
I guess same goes for lead poisoning. You see a doctor. If you don’t and you know you’re sick, you are responsible for not taking necessary action.
As to the subject of substances we are exposed to on a daily basis, our body has ways of dealing with them. Usually we store the toxins in our bones, and then gradually filter them out. Many of our toxins, oddly enough, come from the vegetables we eat. Plants don’t like to be eaten. Take yuccas for instance. They contain cyanide. And yet they make us healthy. But I’d avoid plastics for other reasons – they are bad for the environment.
@georockstar09 we actually do… blood, bones, skin, hair, nails
