It’s said that beggars shouldn’t be choosy but I think it depends on the beggar and what they are willing to settle for and the giver who decides on what they are gifting.
Tho I’m guessing that beggars who are choose aren’t very successful.
Whether one is asking for charity, consideration, favor, grace or mercy . . . one is essentially at the behest of the one offering it. (because if you already had it or could generate it for yourself, why would you be asking for it?!)
You can always “receive” it gripe about it or just toss it out. But people develop a reputation for this should expect that they will become receivers of such things less and less often.
How people treat others is important for their own selves in the scheme of things. Call it “karma” or “spiritual debt”, or whatever you want to call it. Screwing over a poor person having a terrible time in the world is very much more of a debt created for you then screwing over a rich person who is having a great time in the world. And so on.
While the world remains evil, still, watch a lot of crime shows. The bad folks always have to pay, sooner or later.
Spiritual debt is something that also weighs deeply on their very psyche. It turns your internals into nonsense, to be deep hypocrite as anyone is who is cruel to the weak.
(Why? Because no one would have someone else do the same thing to them, if all is made relative. )
Like the saying that the widow gave more then everyone else with just two pennies, because that was all she had…
Unfortunately, people usually or very often, do not get these things.
You can get Jesus and God out of the equation, even. It is warping your own mind and heart to practice hypocrisy.

i feel like every human deserves certain standards of living
but i guess also that not everything can be taken for granted
