Can you prove to me that you exist?

There is no evidence to support your existence.

I have a theory. I think I wanted you to be real. I think somewhere in my subconscious I had a memory of a somebody? A somebody I met, but never really knew m, but I wanted to know. I think this memory came into my conscious mind at a point In my life when I needed someone. I needed someone I thought was like me. Someone I thought was different. Someone who didn’t talk like other people talk or act like other people act. Someone who had secrets locked inside of them. Big secrets about the universe. Someone who was a creator. I needed a creator. Someone who had words. I needed words. Someone with memorable blue eyes. Someone who would hug me and I would remember that hug and after the hug they would remember that hug, too, and they would think I was someone, not to be forgotten.

I did it all. The words. The stories. The memories. I did it. I even had auditory hallucinations when i thought I heard your voice, your heart. I thought I laid my head on your chest and heard your heart beating.

This sounds familiar. Sounds like something that happened to me a while back. Do you think this occurs more frequently with this online world we “live” in, the online world we visit? When I was deep into Soulpancake, maybe too deep; there were times I blurred the tactile people in my life with the online people.

Anyway, here is one way to prove I am real. This is my kitty, Emma who I have shared on this site many times. I (and my partner) keep her alive by caring for her and loving her. She was a really sick kitten in foster care/animal shelter when we met. She picked me when we were meeting her brother Jax. She was only 2 pounds. and she fell slept in my hand. We didn’t think she would live past a year, but she outlived her brother and she is a 13 year old beauty.

I exist. Robust and happy, and enjoying every day of my life.
I know that I exist because I saw myself in my mirror!!!

I am reading this question a little differently than my first take on it. I originally listed ways that evidentiarily prove my existence.

Then I saw the description of the person you wanted to be real and I wondered who that was.

This is a fascinating dimension and the fact is that if you sense a reality; a reality exists…because isn’t that what reality is? The belief in the existence of it?

Are the real people, the real people I have perceived…and that includes are the morons really morons and conversely are the bright ones really that bright, or are the end results in my mind the only ones that really matter??

@spitfire3dc maybe. Or maybe you and I and them are no more real than the Easter bunny or Santa Claus. One could argue that to the average three year old in Oregon the Easter bunny is more real than you or I.

Yes, yes, I know you have an identity, a program attached to you that keeps
Insisting to you that you are real. Mine does that, too.

@Scarlett If the intent is for me to provide evidence of my existence; I believe I can.

My children are my proof. They operate independently of me with actions and opinions that lead to corresponding results, that I can view after the fact

I can take it a step further. The actual existence of my offspring had an offspring, of which, was entirely independently conceived beyond the perception that is me.

Everyone in this thread needs to keep trying. No one has proved their existence yet.

@Weenis Nope, I don’t want to reveal too much of myself because …I don’t really know you people, do I?…and you don’t really know me. I am always up front and honest, but I do keep some of my cards close to my chest. …but I am who I say I am.

It’s a philosophical exercise, not one of divulging personal details. You literally can’t prove your existence with personal details.

@Weenis True, true. I am not into philosophical exercises, as I have said many times here. I respect people who are into theoretical and metaphysical questions, but it’s not me. I do appreciate your explanation.

I will give it a better stab. I have planted hundreds and hundreds of trees. They will live on decades after I am gone. Does that prove my existence? And the gallons of blood and platelets I have donated that is running through countless bodies. Does that prove my existence?

@Weenis Meh, I don’t really care. I don’t know if there is a heaven, god, if we have souls. If there is, yeah! I don’t worry or think much about it. Not my thing. I just try to be the best person I can be and leave this world better than when I arrived. I think 7 generations from me.

How do you know if you’re being the best, or even trying, if you can’t prove you exist?

It’s not my job. Perhaps not even to myself. Because anyone — including myself — can decide I don’t even if drive my truck through their front wall and sit on their chest! And I can decide in and of myself that I am just a figment that has no real impact on the greater whole. (A lot of postmodernists flee into this, almost as a natural matter of course).

This is the nature of existential freedom.

But in an interesting twist, to use it in a deluded fashion tends to rebound and render “the deluded” even less consequentially real (epiphenomenal) in the arena where common existence happens AND in their own subjective nightmare.

And psychopathy finds a very comfortable home there.

I can’t even prove to myself that I exist. I just know that it feels like I do, and that is enough for me. I’ve also felt before how maybe no one else exists. Doesn’t really matter though. Still got to go through life with them or against them.
