Even if they didn’t kill the person doing it… invading a person’s space for such antics would be considered assault and battery at minimum, something the perpetrator can to go to jail for.
Peaceful protest yet you still want it to get violent. Lol, make up your mind. It is also disgusting that when we talk about the flag, we only bring up the military. We never bring up teachers, doctors, and those in other fields that hold us together. Military is only one of those branches. We are more than just our violent branch. Teaching and healing are just as important. Also, it is tiring people saying that we are disrespecting the flag with this, yet they never open their mouth when people are wearing clothes with the flag printed on them, or when the NFL holds the flag horizontal, or when the flag is in advertisements. These things are literally listed as “disrespect” in the flag code. Overall, I am ok with all of it. It is hard to watch some of them, but I have to be ok because of the first amendment. Yea, let’s go down the forced nationalism road. Worked so well for Germany and North Korea.

In all honesty though, if Trump initiated hard martial law and then used the military to round up citizens and put them into FEMA Camps for mass executions I would definitely jump off of the Trump train, but I don’t see him doing anything like that yet.

If this has anything to do with NFL, it was a VETERAN who proposed the kneeling as an idea for the protest. THAT’S why the kneel. Has nothing to do with vets, they just got the idea from them.
This is operating on the assumption that intent behind those who kneel is to explicitly disrespect the flag. That’s not the case, and if you think that it is, you’re not listening – or rather, you’re only listening to those who reinforce your own opinion, like say, idiots who make videos in their cars.
The reason behind these protests is to bring attention to the disproportionately negative treatment that African-Americans are getting at the hands of the police. This isn’t to stay that all police are bad, they’re people too and their lives matter, but the fact remains that once a week our headlines are graced by another human rights violation, or more often than not, flat out murder.
Kaepernick consulted a veteran about the most respectful way to protest, as mentioned previously in this thread. I have spoken to plenty of other veterans who agree with this sentiment.
I’ve seen plenty of the people on the side of “this is disrespecting the flag” argue that there’s no oppression or racism in America today. They, and presumably you, from the subject matter you post, seem to figure that since African-Americans aren’t in fucking chains anymore, then they’ve achieved equality. This is a preposterous argument.
And to analyze this matter further, one only has to look at the source of the conflict itself. Kaepernick and other NFL players have been doing this for quite some time, and it’s attained minimal media coverage. It wasn’t until Trump brought this up that it entered the spotlight, and I have to ask myself why? This is a common Trump technique. He stirs up something sensational and inconsequential to distract the nation from something else. For instance, the horrible healthcare bill the Republican party just tried to pass, the tax bill that he wants to impose that would personally save him approximately $1.1 billion dollars, or the fact that he’s about to start an international nuclear war because he can’t keep his thumbs still long enough to not send a fucking tweet. A NATO official said the other day and an “ordinance exchange with North Korea” is “50/50 odds” at this point. This is Cold War level nuclear danger, and you people are worried about activists kneeling during a song?
Furthermore, what kind of protest do you propose? This post has largely been a rant, but I ask you this now: what should Kaepernick and his fellow activists do? You seem to take issue when they protest in the streets, and you seem to take issue now when they peacefully protest now? What I think is that you want to ignore the problem entirely and return to complacency.
Things might be comfortable for you, but they’re not comfortable for all Americans, and true patriotism is working towards our fellow men and women living in a healthier, more prosperous, and equal society each and every day. But until then, keep sharing YouTube videos with snarky remarks made by some asshole in his car.

I was out to eat tonight with my Seahawks, Marshawn Lynch jersey on and I man walked up to us and asked, “Oh, I see you haven’t burned your NFL stuff yet.” I said, why would I burn my jersey? We ended up conversing about the issue. We remained civil, but our voices were getting louder and louder. The one thing I wished I asked him, “why do you think they are protesting?” They hijack the conversation by going on about the military and the flag, but they don’t address the actual issue. I will ask this the next time someone asks me why I am wearing my Lynch, or Michael Bennett jersey.

They are kneeling in an effort to defend the very core of the Declaration of Independence. No political act is more patriotic than petitioning government for that purpose. If you dislike their tactics, apart from their message, consider them imperfect; I won’t object so long as you then ask yourself if you find it easy to forgive Thomas Jefferson for the imperfection of owning slaves while advancing life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but hard to forgive young black men for merely kneeling while they try to advance life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in their time.
