@Santa Bunny good question. John Rawls did define justice as fairness. Some define just as equal. I would say we definitely do not live in an equal world. Some would say a just world is one in which people get what they deserve. Do people deserve a thing based on their humanity alone or do you have to contribute something to deserve something back?
We are all born with expectations. We expect our parents (or someone) to take care of us until we can take care of ourselves. We expect to have food and water available because that’s what we live on.
Once we get to adulthood, we see that life is neither fair nor do we always get what we want or what was expected. That’s when we seek out things that we didn’t expect or even deserve.
No. This world whether it be in a spiritual or legal sense is not just. I mean, we can just look at who is suffering and who is succeeding. People thrive on causing injustice. That picture of the bone skinny kid getting water from this tattooed lady comes to mind. Like, what did that kid do to deserve to be in a situation like that? There is no spiritual justice there. Or that photo of the poor Brazilian people in favelas overlooking the Olympics. We then have people who abuse others and get little to no time in prison while someone having pot on them gets years and sometimes even life. We have police murdering people and discouraging complaints being filed on other officers. We have lawyers and district attorneys who purposely have overlooked evidence to convict innocent people. Police, like Chicago, have black sites to take individuals to question and torture them. No justice in any sense of the word.
@yin these are all very good points and I think I have to agree with you. Our world is not a just one. Sometimes we can have pockets of justice here and there, but by and large, no not just. The early philosophers created havocs with their teachings about justice, I think, which included a lot of the discrimination we see today.

One example, specifically, take, for instance, your simple, ordinary ticket you might get for driving. For the poor, this can devastate them, but for the rich, it is nothing. At least one european country has made tickets relative to a person’s income. So, should it be.
But, it is not.
And, that is just one minor thing, there are countless wrongs going on. Including, from my book, things many often do not even think of as wrongs. Such as disease and death.
