As a species we have been pushing the limits on what we can accomplish in space. Does it matter? Do you think the colonizing another planet is something we should be exploring?
Recently Christina Koch returned from spending over 300 days in space. She broke records and all that jazz. She is now a walking science lab for researchers who are studying the effects of space on our bodies. Pretty darn cool.
But on the other side of the coin…why does it matter? What about figuring out issues that our planet is facing instead of worrying about space survival? Maybe NASA can invent a form of sustainable fuel? Engineer new ways to preserve our current resources before farming resources from space? I dunno.
Space exploration is neat, but I just was wondering if it all matters and why it matters. Thoughts?

It seems to be human nature to reach out and grow. I know that there are problems here on Earth, but we can do more than one thing at a time. There are people solving problems in many specialized fields. We can do them all, if we put our minds to it. Then, someone who wants to get out of the cities and be alone can have another planet to pioneer.

Our attempts to contact other planets might bite us in the ass instead of keeping quiet until we have the technology to enslave other planets through debt and sexually-primed commercials.
Right now let’s just concentrate on getting the pirate, his moll, and the holy crusader on weed.

Nope… those are mind altering flavor crystals that’ve monopolized you into the monoculture.

to vote.the unusual science necessary for space travel means inventions not readily otherwise made come forward and it also serves as a political tool to bridge divides and foster diplomatic warmth. Plus we’re fucking earth up fast and we need to find a safe habitat in the next thousand years I imagine. Why not start now? Mostly for invention and cooperation, but also because there’s a certain transcendence to it.
