It seems that many of us have decided to pick sides and that, in my opinion will lead to the demise of this place and what could be the friendships that many of us have established. It might be time to step back from that which divides and make a conscious effort to find common denominators.
I found this Ted Talk today that enthralled me. It addressed in a very scientific way something that I think we would consider Heavenly if we are of that mind and euphoric if we are not.
I encourage you to watch this with an open mind and listen to the commentary of a brain scientist who suffered a stroke and has the capacity to share the experience in a way that may astound you too. For me, it felt like an explanation of things I have considered broadly but couldn’t really express with the same effectiveness of this first hand experiencer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I recall having posted this same video a few years ago on Soul Pancake. Thank you Spitfier3dC for posting it again. Interesting video.
Twice I have stroked and fell face down. I know some of what this lady is speaking about. However, I am not a spiritual person, so I did not have spiritual thoughts. I remember that it was difficult to move before each of my strokes, and it seemed that our weenie dog was running circles around me, avoiding me and laughing at me. Then the ground came up (much like the handle of the rake, when you step on the rake) and hit me square in the face. My thoughts were that I broke my nose, but at least I am laying down. My thoughts were clear, but my body did not want to co-operate with my thoughts. My first stroke was with an old flip phone in my pocket. The letters and numbers looked like Martian squiggles that had no meaning. I pushed the green button twice and it automatically dialed the last person I had called — my cousin Sue. She did not seem to be talking and I needed to get her to stop fooling around and talk to me. In reality, Sue recognized my voice and I was not getting out words. She recorded our phone call so that she could play it back for me later. It took 30 minutes for a real word to come out of my mouth. It took what must have been one hour for Sue’s instructions on how to get up off of the ground to get me to get up and stand up. I headed into my house a heavy step at a time — only stepping with my right foot — and getting my wheelchair out to sit in it. I could only operate my right hand and the wheelchair went in a circle. I was frustrated. I was alive. I would heal from that point. It took 3 months before I could open my left hand and walk without a cane. It was odd to me during that 3 months of recovery that when sitting or standing, my left hand was clinched in a fist, but when I laid down in bed, I could open that fist and operate my hand to be able to feed myself. I recovered.
The next time I had a stroke in my back yard, I had a new iphone with black face and there was no way to figure out how to call anyone. I laid in my back yard for hours, until my next door neighbor came home and I yelled out to him. He came and helped me into my house. My speech was unintelligible, but he did not find that out of the ordinary. It did not even occur to him that I needed an ambulance. He left me to my own resources and hours later I figured out that I would get myself through this. I got to my Doctor’s office that week and she said it may have been a mini-stroke. It took 3 months for me to be able to put away my walking cane. I was still coming to Arizona during that time of healing, but did my best to put off the trip until I could pretend that I was not malfunctioning. I got through it and healed. I began to realize how dangerous it is to carry an iphone with a black face. So, now, I am carrying and antiquated flip phone and know to hit the “send” button twice. Knowing that feeling of difficulty of moving right before a stroke, I hope that I will be able to convey that to Immortal Pirate. My Medicare and Insurance cards are together in my purse and all medical treatment and Ambulance is covered. I feel relieved that I am living with a person who will be able to see the signs with me and get me the care I need.
neat. I don’t recall having watched this before.
