My hometown was once listed as the fast food capital of the world. There was a fast food restaurant on every corner. Growing up, getting fast food was a treat, and it felt like we had made it when my parents took us out for fast food. of course, I ate a lot of burgers and shakes when I was a teenager, but somewhere in my 20’s fast food lost its luster, and I used it later as a means to an end, rather than because I enjoy it. That being said, there are still a couple fast food restaurants I enjoy. One of them is popeyes chicken, and the other is five guys burgers and fries.

Like you, fast food is just a means to an end in my lifestyle. I would ditto Popeyes and Five Guys, and add the occasional Wendy’s and Pita Pit.

It wasn’t a major fixture growing up because we couldn’t afford it.

I consider McDonald’s the worst with their intentionally targeting garbage food on children wow insisting that they weren’t; but their mascot just happened to be a clown!
But they have stable Wi-Fi. I’m headed to a weekend down time in Colorado we’re the only breakfast option is McDonald’s or nothing.
So I’ll choke back some heavily sugared and salted grease just so I can enjoy being online#

When I was a child working in a roller rink, I lived on hot dogs and Dr. Pepper. Going out for fast food only happened when Mom loaded all of us cousins in the car and we went to a drive-in church, followed by a drive-in restaurant where a waitress on roller skates brought burgers and malts on a tray that attached to the car window.
Then, when Mom and I converted to Judaism, we went out for tacos after Temple. Those were special times for Mom and I. Sometimes, we craved shell fish, or pork BBQ ribs and we had to sneak off — away from my Jewish Dad — to satisfy our unkosher needs.

As an adult, tacos were always my favorite and Taco-Tuesday was a special ritual. If I went to McDonalds, I would order the same things I had as a kid, two of the tiny hamburgers and a small Coke. I don’t like big hamburgers because of the lettuce and tomato in them. I don’t like all the vegetables in my burger. KFC chicken is comfort food to me. Whenever I am upset, I calm down with a KFC meal. It reminds me of my Grandma’s cooking. When I lived alone in California, my mainstays were KFC, Taco Bell, H.Salt Fish, In-and-Out, and Dell Taco.

Now that I live with Immortal Pirate, getting the fast food I have grown up with is very rare. Immortal Pirate hates fast food, and all of the foods I dearly love. So, we go to Denny’s and other restaurants and I gained weight with restaurant food and cooking at home. My cooking packs on the pounds.

Not a fan. I’ll usually skip lunch. Push comes to shove, I’ll grab a burger but prefer a sub.

I’ve been to the States enough to know that some of your full line restaurants are just fast food in disguise

Best Subs, Worst…I just can’t go into a MacDonalds. The smell of grease makes me nauseas.

Wendy’s is my jam. Those cheeseburgers are awesome. They have Frosty’s. Got to say though, Dairy Queen has this French silk pie Blizzard, it is amazing if you love chocolate. I put it in Google though and it is saying that it may be discontinued. Will be sad if true.

  7. I LOVE fast-food but I have drive-thru order anxiety, so I only go to ’em when people I’m with maaaaaake me. I ate Hardee’s for school lunch for at least 5 years.
    ….grade school years.
I think it’s interesting that everybody hates McDonald’s!
Right now my favorite is Checkers, but I’ve only been there once or twice. I buy the Checker’s fries at the grocery store.
In the 70s we went on a family road trip and ate alot of 70s McDonalds breakfasts, & the McSyrup, McOJ, and McSausages always made my throat sore. Never liked McDonald’s after that, except for the Big Mac & cheap ass catholick lent Filet-o-Fishies for 35-50¢, nuggets, fries, Shamrock Shakes, and the big-ass-foam boxed McBLT to keep the cold side cold and the hot side hot!
Does gas station chicken count as fast food? Because I eat about a bird of that a week.
