@Weenis Many men gave their lives fighting for the South. Men of several colors defended that Confederate flag. I remember a conversation that Immortal Pirate had with a black man in Tennessee about his love for that Confederate flag. He was the Curator of the Civil War Museum. The Stars and Bars are held dear in the South. I hear the words of that song and hear the dislike for the WHITE Union Soldiers of the North. If there is racist feelings, it is for the Whites of the Northern troops of the Union Army.
This song reminds me of you Gina…an incessant droning to which there is no escape.
Fantastic choice Gina. I find it very easy to be positively inspired by it, but then, I suppose I started listening to it, wanting to. I didn’t start off by using it as a launch pad to initiate a hatred based agenda. Maintain your positive momentum Gina.

@spitfire3dc Mary J Blige is Oscar nominated for this song, and best supporting actress for Mudbound. I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s on Netflix. It’s about WWII and how black men were sent to war, served honorably; and when they came home they were treated like second class citizens.
