Home decor

How often do you change decor? What inspires you to change decor? Also, do you move the furniture around in your house?

Once I find what arrangement works best for the room, I could keep it like that for 20 years, or longer. I am not prone to getting bored with my furniture arrangement.

When i was growing up, we didn’t have air conditioning. It often got stifling in my room. We had a fan that fit into the window and pulled the cool night air through the house (they don’t make such fans anymore). in order to take full advantage of the breeze, during the summer, we would rearrange my room to have it against the window. Then, during the winter, we would move things back (the window got too cold at night, even with all the covers i had on).

    Almost never.
I tend to find the most pragmatic arrangement and then stick with it . . . until something renders it no longer pragmatic. (A move, new furniture, someone in the home having mobility or care issues — we had a bed for my father in the living room for a while, as well as one in the bedroom).

Maybe I’m cursed with enough internal stimuli that I don’t seek to actively create external stimuli. I’m not adverse to it — because I explore a multitude of very stimulating new environments as a living!
But even before I did this for a living, I still tended towards a bubble of near total predictability around me.

    Hey @Scarlett2 .
Do you think this is a function of ADD/ADHD? And where do you think this differentiates from base personality?

My wife is far more into that then my own self.

She has festooned my wall with a ship, at night, at the very edge of the waters, which run off to endlessness. And, in another corner, an island.

Which are both exactly where I am at.

Yet, like ‘what dreams may come’, my wife remains dead, and I try and wake her up.

She is my companion, from old. From before.

I am cursed with ‘remembering everything’, like the Nine Inch Nails song…

I try and wake people, but ‘Hotel California’, where we are from, of late, and our past life… ‘stab it with our steely knives, but you just can’t kill the beast’…

My angel, Michael, can kill the beast, though.

And, we shall do so. Before this day is through.
