What do you think? He is a complete idiot, and entirely immoral. He was hired because he passed some anti-gay law in his state. I don’t think Trump backed him because of that (his errors are otherwise), but he helped Trump win the “religious right”. Basically, the bane of my existence, the fake as Christians who supposedly follow The Guy Who Said ‘Do Not Judge’, and they proclaim to the whole world that their way of doing that is by gay bashing, and bashing everyone else who does anything that is none of their business, and Jesus truly would have obviously not given a shit about.
Comey, though, is and was actually also an asshole. So, maybe you were not following him before Obama, but I sure he. He popped up on my radar because he led the global charge to backdoor all American software (and so hardware). He was ridiculous in his campaign and persistent. It was completely immoral, and also stupid. His debate tactic relied on calling everyone who disagreed with this charge “a child”.
I am certain he released the Clinton investigation details right before the election because he saw he had completely nuked favor with Republicans, and there was a tight race. He gambled that he could nudge it towards the Republicans, so that he could get that favor back.
Previous to this he had made some pro-democratic moves, but they were in power.
He did get in power because he was against Bush’s escalation of surveillance powers. As was many others in the DoJ. Again, though he went against Bush, he was simply making a tactical move for his own benefit.
That is what that guy is, and how he operates. Which is repehensible for someone who is in the Attorney General’s office, though sadly, all too common for many DoJ lawyers who tend to shit all over justice for the benefit of their careers.
With a fifty-fifty race, Comey had two things here: 1. He could ensure he had a job afterwards, because FBI and DoJ were largely for Trump. Had he not done anything, no former DoJ or FBI would hire him. Which meant that his career prospects would be very limited.
Why he gives such a shit about his career, I do not know. The guy is aged and clearly does not have many years left. Though, even twenty, to me, is nothing.
But, yeah, Sessions, is a complete asshole, of course. Another careerist. Put there entirely because Trump needed to win the bigoted far right “Christians”.
Sessions move, of course, as it is always with these politicians when they do these horrible laws was not sincere in the slightest. It was a career move. He was appealing to people who are many, but clearly morally and mentally deranged.
Trump also tried to put Flynn in power. This is a guy who was a career leader in the DIA, an intelligence agency. But, his post-career involved working as a highly paid agent (ludicrously highly paid, but high level spies always are, look at Hanssen), for multiple unfriendly to the US governments such as Russia and Turkey.
He is also a careerist. He had no moral qualm pushing the absurd story “Pizzagate”. Which is on the level of sheer insanity. No one who is at that level of government, with his level of accomplishments could possibly ever have known “Pizzagate” was anything but complete flim flam.
Further, Pizzagate was not just a propagandist lie, it was of the worst sort of disinformation, as it claimed literal child sex slavery, prostitution of children, and these extremely serious charges against a huge group of leading, patriotic Americans.
Why is that so absolutely reprensible? Because it is using child sex slavery to sell an intentional lie for political purposes. Which demeans the seriousness of the charge entirely. When you convict innocent people, you let guilty people go free. Literally. And that is one of those crimes where this is something no one should ever be able to stomach.
Flynn, I have little doubt has a truly terrible list of extremely serious crimes no one, as yet, knows about. You don’t just go from heading up the DIA to doing this kind of thing. That level of immorality is not a level people just suddenly start doing late in their life absent a brain tumor or other severe head injury.
The chance he was operating as a mole, then, for a foreign government during his tenure at the DIA, I would argue is 99%. Very likely the guy even got his job from his work as a mole for probably the Russians. They have a track record of doing this. It is trivial for them to do it, because they can simply hand to their moles intelligence wins which further their careers.
Finally, I would point out Guiliani, who was put in as the cyber-security czar. I was, post-911 fooled by him. I believed the stories he cleaned up New York city. The reality is the guy is depraved. As depraved as a Flynn or Sessions or Comey? No, I doubt it.
That is, btw, my field. I find it abhorrent Giuliani was put in that position. America faces grave cybersecurity threats.
You do not put a person who has zero experience in a field as the lead manager. That would be like putting in a clown to head up the Medical Association.
Huge difference between having good managerial skills and being someone who can even remotely understand what anyone is telling them. You can’t possibly know who to hire as an advisor, because you have know idea who is good at the field to hire to tell you what advisors to hire.
Granted, Democrats are very guilty of these things, too.
Obama did more against American privacy by a long shot then Bush. And that is sad because Bush went completely whacko against Americans in the area.
When the DNC was hacked, they created a committee for cybersecurity (about time, huh), and none of them had any experience in the field.
They fired no one after the Manning, Snowden, and OPM debacles. Which, while the former two are legitimately whistleblowing (kind of, sort of, debateable), the later was an incredible failure beyond any question. And the former two, whistleblowing or not, showed complete ass work by the agencies that were devastated.
To the Army’s credit, they completely reversed course and really improved their security.
I strongly doubt the NSA did… actually, we know they did not, because of the Shadowbrokers fiasco.
OPM, though, engaged every single organization in America which has cleared workings. Which is about all of them, down to Parks Service. No joke. More heavy on the law enforcement and intelligence side agencies, of course. Which means they should have been auditing the fuck out of OPM decades ago.
After the hack, they all should have had their proverbial heads lopped off. Instead, Clapper went on a prime time touring circle, practically ridiculing the entire US intel and leo establishment by spending all the rest of his time desperately spinning the fantasy they did no wrong in any of this.

I am sorry, but I really do not think so. I mean my hand of cards on that is a royal flush. I get that you were not paying attention over the debacle Comey led the charge on to backdoor all American software and hardware projects. But, that is my field, so I was and remain extremely aware of it. I have worked hard over the years to try and protect Americans and others in the world from their own government being able to spy on everything they do. And Comey did a lot to try and make that so.
If you think that was moral, I can understand, because you probably do not work in the field, nor have intelligence experience.
But, had Comey won his fight, Trump and his crew would have all of your data belonging to them. Being a Democrat who is vocal against them, this would be bad, would it not?
Comey did not give the least flying fuck about any of that.
None of this means I dislike the US government, I work with them here and there. But, I know they can not be trusted with such power. No human being could, certainly not collections of them who work in law enforcement and intelligence. It would instantly give the US powers equivalent to a true surveillance state like the world has never seen before.
So, it is kind of, for me, like watching a serial killer who right now is an useful idiot. Matters are not so black and white. Bad people can do good things.
