What criteria do you compare yourself with others?
Looks?
Wealth?
Raw abilities?
Success in business/ accomplishments?
Academic success?
Family?
Friends?
What you can get away with?
I think it is a better process to presume you have none and later be pleasantly surprised than to presume that you have skills only to realize later that you’re really do not!
You realize that goes back to the rigid line of thought that we can do nothing right, and that’s the line of thought that I need to reject with everything I have. A line of thought that states I’m not good enough, unworthy, “dirty.” A line of thought that states that I am garbage.
As I said I was springboarding off of a religious notion that is milked to death.
There is a germ of Truth in it. Acts of flesh cannot “earn” spiritual reward. Every action of The flesh can only result in the inescapable result of flesh which is death. You yourself asserted that all we have is the physical. This is an assertion (a faith?) that all we have is death; and that is correct.
Religion stops at, and dwells on “The Bad News”; almost totally neglecting “The Good News”.
Something they have now successfully foisted upon you. Your faith, rests in repeating their lies and half-truths as justification for your new path. ( which is really just the old path of relying on flesh to make you “saved” and “right”[eous].
Because who I am is being, consciousness. It is not the looking or the doing or the saying, ultimately, it is the being.
I go back and forth between various worlds, and each has their own set of worries and desires. For instance, I play World of Warcraft, and there, I run a dps monitor and take pride in trying to reach the highest dps (damage per second). I do bother to make my appearance good. I desire to ever improve myself in player versus player, by my own terms. I try and impact for the team, and watch errors, and learn to correct them.
But, it is not real.
It is real when you are in it. But, not when you are out of it.
Could you ever find yourself in your own mind?
You do every night, though you probably do not remember your dreams. Everyone dreams. To remember your dreams takes care and practice. To control your dreams takes technique and knowledge.
But is that right? Because your own mind is already controlling everything in your dream, only you are not aware of it. You believe you are in reality, that the world and people there are real.
Lucid dreaming means, however, to be able to wake up in a dream, realizing you are dreaming, and then you can do as you want. Amazing things.
Point being, why bother about comparing your own self to anyone else in a dream? They are just you. Figments of your imagination.
As for “what do you get away with”, I am not obliged to live by the standards of the world.
Except in communication. To a degree. For instance, in order to establish rapport, that requires empathy and showing commonality. Communicating credibility.
But that is all it is.
Language is more then just words we say. There is much context. You have to use their language, and everybody’s language includes what they consider good and bad, and everything on such scales. Their definitions of “objects”, which will differ with your own spans deep into their moral system and culture.
Their preferences.
But, that is just like wearing an uniform, or going to a fancy dinner dressed in a way you normally do not dress in.

I guess abilities for the most part. I think it is due to me not having any, lol. I envy them.

Comparing imperfection with imperfection is a silly process.
The absolute highest goal achievable is to be less imperfect than something else imperfect.
This is what makes the goal of “something Greater than us” a good (and possibly essential) process for us to avoid rampant silliness.
Otherwise to springboard off of a common religious process, we are one turd trying to prove ourselves less stinky than another turd.

I don’t anymore. I am me and that’s all there is. Anything more is a waste of time and energy.
On a substantial level, I do not.
Because who I am is being, consciousness. It is not the looking or the doing or the saying, ultimately, it is the being.

I don’t compare myself with others. I am me and that has nothing to do with anyone else except me.
