When i started the job at AIC i told my friend there would be consequences for having me get a job. Now it looks like he is getting the funding for a restaurant he has been trying to get for the last few months. I can’t take off work as it’s too late. I can’t call off, as call offs are for when you’re really and truly sick. He’s saying he needing to change everything over to his name within 24 hours of purchase, but who knows how long it will really take.

Oh, I definitely regret some internet comments :) but not commitments so much. Somebody’s gotta do the stuff in order for civilization to run.
I sent for a “Red Tea Diet” over the internet and paid $57.00 for the big secret diet. It was supposed to be some secret tea out of South Africa and would cause me to lose weight, just having a cup of tea. That sounded nice to me.
The “secret” was that I had to brew a 7-cup pot of tea with:
7 teaspoons of Rooibos tea leaves
7 teaspoons of Fennel seeds
1 teaspoon of Saffron fibers
7 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger root.
I was supposed to brew a 7 cup pot of this tea and drink 6 cups of it every day. Just doing this was supposed to make me lose weight —— even if I kept eating fried chicken and pizza. Brewing 7 cups and drinking 6 cups —— even if I threw that extra cup of tea over my left shoulder, spun around three times, and clicked my heels together three times, it wasn’t going to work as advertised.
The seller of this secret Red Tea Diet was going to sell me a bag of this magic Rooibis tea from South Africa for only $59.99 a month for a months supply. I accepted that.
Then …… I found out that a months supply of Rooibos tea would only cost $30,00 from both the health food store, and my local grocery store.
And the weight loss effects???? ZERO lbs. lost —— even with watching what I ate and following a high protein and low-carb “Keto” diet.
The seller of the Red tea was STILL going to be charging my credit card via Pay Pal $59.99 plus postal shipping fees and sending me the tea, even after I told her to STOP and cancelled all future orders. I cancelled my account with her. She ignored my cancellation and sent another shipment of tea. Lucky for me, Pay Pal lets me stop payments to companies like this. I put that company on my “No Pay” list.
This morning, I got an email that they want to send another shipment of the tea, but Pay Pal will not pay them. I emailed them back and told them where they could shove the tea shipment. Again, I cancelled my account and refused to pay for any future shipments.
I can still brew this tea by buying it from my local health food store and local grocery store. I no longer want to pay twice as much for the tea to be shipped to me. It doesn’t work as advertised, but I am still brewing it and drinking it. Why??? I’m just stupid like that. I keep doing what doesn’t work and waiting for that magical moment that it might work.
@ladybarbara keytongenics is a weird thing, but sounds like the same thing as the adkins diet. Growing up my mom was worried about “keytones” in her urine. I need to look up if it’s the same thing.
@Jear77 Yes, if you eat too much protein and don’t have a balance with vegetables and fruits, you will get too much “ketones” in your system. A sign of that happening is a monstrous bad breath that will smell from 5 feet away. To counteract that, take extra zinc, and magnesium. —– Or, just find a balance that works for you.
If a guy can’t afford to pay somebody, for whatever it is that you can do for him, there’s no way possible they’ll make it in the restaurant biz.
The best restaurants with the best food go out of business all the time, but there’s no end to the poor to mediocre places. The difference is deep money backing.
@luftballooneyegouge I don’t quite think the point that “no one else can do this” but more to the point “I don’t trust anyone with my information. They could steal my identity (a lot of money) even having access to credit card accounts for a single day.”The restaurant is currently making $10,000 monthly. Technically he won’t own the restaurant until he pays off the investors tho, as they can simply repo the restaurant… believing otherwise is just stupid.
That’s a tough spot to be in. How much are you willing to sacrifice to go on this possible ride with him? If it’s not a significant and long-lasting success, it would be unwise to burn bridges and create a resume showing a lack of professional commitment and integrity.
Given your friend’s past flippant regard for commitment (defaulting on financial and moral responsibilities), Is it wise to just sign everything over to his name? If he needs your assets to get the money, part of that money should immediately go either into your pocket or your controlling interest. Get something in writing that you can register as a lien against the business.
It may be wise to research the success rate and profit margins of restaurant enterprises to help assess just what kind of a gamble this may be.

Proceed cautiously; particularly if you’re required to sign your assets over into his name.

You are probably wise to show the same kind of Integrity towards your current job, that he would expect in his own employees.

It almost sounds like one of those scams where you’ve won a free cruise as long as you give them your credit card number to claim it.
Be wary of letting him gamble with your assets.
