this working mama is a busy mama, so im just trying to make the most of moments as i can. trying to slow down when able, remind my son that he is important, that time together is important… i might need to be busy working, and im doing that for us, and i know he will realize it one day, but we both need the down times too and i need to remember that.
originally i was working 8-4 on christmas day, with only the 24th off. so i told him we could do his gifts on the morning of christmas eve, so he could have the day to relax at home and enjoy his bounty :) i was thankfully able to trade a shift so i am doing a short dinner instead, working 330-7. which is so good. he is used to me working, but giving up christmas morning is something we would both feel poorly about. he can go represent at the family dinner, and we can have the morning to enjoy together. but since we already had the plan for the 24th present extravaganza in place, we decided to stick with that. maybe it will be a new tradition. maybe not, depends on my schedule next year. it will make things special because we will have the excitement of opening presents on the 24th and then on the 25th take the day to celebrate gratitude together, and then save stockings and parcels and packages from out of town family for actual christmas morning.

ps congrats on the new family member!!! puppieeeeeeeeeees! love! (i joke but serious that as my child gets older and more independent, less into cuddling, that i really need a puppy :D oh how id love! but ill wait til we are out of the apartment building. that wouldnt be fair. ) enjoy the new puppy love
Same as last year and every year before, I work my immortal ass off for one night a year to bring toys and electronic shit to all your sniveling spoiled brats…they really deserve a lump of coal and a swift kick in the seat of the pants.
I bought a security door for our house and that makes the house smell better. We did not have a screen door before now. With the extra locks to lock and unlock —- the theme song to “Get Smart” keeps playing in my mind while I am working all the locks.
I baked cookies. I decorated the Pirate Ship and bought a small Christmas tree. I’m doing small things. I fixed BBQ ribs for the Christmas dinner we had on Dec. 15th. Immortal Pirate’s daughter has a really special guy in her life and I think they may be thinking of getting hitched. I noticed it was important that they each meet one another’s family, and that is usually the first step towards an alter. They are so perfect together —– so I have hope that Will will be a family addition soon. They are going to spend Christmas with his folks in Florida, so Christmas here was celebrated on the 15th.
@luftballooneyegouge We are getting yellow collar. He was only willing to look us in the eye after we promised a warm meal during his first week at his new residence.
BTW; did you get your laundry basket at Trump’s Laundering Depot? I only paid 15 rubles for mine.
@luftballooneyegouge already house trained…can sit, stay, fetch and follow. Crazy for 8 weeks, but that’s the benefit of buying from trainer we have worked with for about 15 years.

I just bought us both new iphones for Christmas. Now Immortal will be able to do all sorts of things that he could not do on that antiquated slider phone. As for me, I no longer have an excuse to bafoon around, bumbling around like Mr. Magoo on the old slider phone.
Oo. Pick the bionic one on the left. It’ll protect your house by shooting laser beams out of its eyes and saying creepy stuff to the bad guys in Schwartzeneger’s voice.
This Christmas will be memorable for us because my father has just had a life-altering stroke. He had it right in the hospital while he was being assessed for bad influenza. And it turns out there was pneumonia on top of it.
So the lights are up; the house decorated; freezer crammed with stuff for the celebration that is now the last thing on our mind or agenda.
Things are day-by-day. As the eldest son present, a lot of tough decisions that will affect those afar. I hope I’m up to it.
@griz My prayers are with you. You have my sympathy. As your Dad works through this, he will have to work with what skills he still has. Everyone around him will have to be stronger for him. This is how it goes as our parents grow very old. Even as family Christmas will be late, it will come. Thank the graces of God that there are still pieces to be picked up and put back into place. Somehow, life altered has to be worked out. Times are tough, right now, but answers will come. Have faith and be strong. Take care of you because you need your own health during this stress. You and your family are in my prayers.
