If your life were a meal….

If your life were a meal, what kind of meal would it be?

The first thing that came to my mind was Italian. My life up until this point has been heavy. Heavy, with a few aromatic herbs tossed in. I brought most of it on myself, though. It took me many years to learn to throw the noodle to the ceiling and see if it would stick.

A smorgasbord of foods from around the world. Some of the buffet is the stuff of dreams. While others are not good tasting at all, maybe even to the point of being outright nasty.

    Chicouterie.

Here is a recent assortment we did. A lot of different flavours that you can munch on in no particular order. THe guacamole and tortilla chips were an adventure. The fruits and cheeses were inspirational, the meats spicy and worthy.

It the way I like elements of my life to contribute to the whole so at the end I can say, ” That was good!”

A childhood of Twinkies and Grandma’s fried chicken. A parenthood of eating whatever was left over from my children’s plates. I would watch them eat and think, “reject the green beans. Reject the green beans. Mama wants your green beans.”
Onward and upward in life with steaks and baked potatoes with all the fixings. Then I settled down and wanted Tacos. Whenever I feel bad, nothing cheers me up like the comfort food of my childhood. Forget the Twinkies and bring on the fried chicken. But, on Tuesdays? Tuesday isn’t Tuesday without Tacos!!!

ill describe the main courses of my life so far…

childhood; great big pots of weiners and beans, eat for days, with massive holiday meals of roast beef, gravy, mash potatoes and proper yorkshire pudding, and ‘cheese dreams’ when everyone else was sleeping
teenaged years; jack daniels and microwaved bacon
twenties; home made curried pear soup
thirties; turkey broth, pancakes, doughy things that turn my stomach inside out but i eat them anyway
forties; gluten free coconut chocolate chip vanilla pudding muffins and a case of coffee, every other day fresh garden salad and green tea, and at least once a week fries and frosties
