Today I heard a 13 y/o talk about his motivations associated with his future and I heard such an idealistic take I was truly inspired. The question rose in my head though, associated with how often I hear idealistic commentary from the young, only to hear the opposite from people with experience (also known as geezers) proclaim the opposite.
So I wonder…if we begin at one extreme, will nature rush headlong to the opposite polarity as it abhors a vacuum? Does the positive rush towards the negative and if so, can we consciously reverse the flow?
Consider this as we mourn those who may have died just because they may have been pursuing fun, by a frustrated old cynic who couldn’t understand why his money didn’t make him happy.
Maybe if we educate our youth to be cynical; nature would steer them towards idealism…or is the energy flow always going to deflate, rather than inflate?
Today I will focus on offering positive thoughts to those around me. Feel free to test me.

I think there are natural progressions over time. Science calls it entropy; and natural processes cannot make it flow backwards.
Saddle a young person with cynicism that “rightfully” belongs in the jaded, and they will resent it, to becoming even more cynical than those who saddled them with it!
What if cynicism was just “idealism failed”? Natural progression dissipates the energy of idealism, just as entropy dissipates the higher vibrational rhythms of the universe into one uniform background blah.
Cynicism is the realization that natural efforts are not going to stop a natural process.
But Supernatural efforts producing Supernatural processes that fly contrary to entropy?!
That may be a different story!
And the young may just naturally be more in touch with the Creational Energy of the Universe than the jaded old farts!
(Science still cannot tell us what happened in the early microseconds of the Big Bang, causing a background blah of uniformity to be raised in an instant to a complex tapestry of higher energy. Something beyond-the-natural (Supernatural), caused entropy to flow backwards. So there may be hope for the cynical to once again become idealistic!)
It is not wise to quench out the fires in the mind of the youth. The old and cynical tried and failed, but newer minds are full of energy and invention.
I think back to my nephew watching his mother struggle to unlatch the screen door while holding arm loads of grocery bags and her purse. The boy was 9 years old. He studied the door latch and went into my brother’s workshop to invent a bar that could be pressed and unlatch the door. My brother tried to stop his son from installing the bar on that screen door. “Leave my screen door alone!!! Don’t be breaking the latch!” —– So, while my brother was at work and not there to stop him, my nephew installed the bar invention on the door. The family came to test it and praise the boy. His mom was thrilled with the bar latch. Now, with arms full, she only had to press the bar to unlatch the screen door. Youthful minds can think around problems with out-of-the-box solutions to problems.
I am glad that cynical opinions did not stop my nephew. He went on to make a name for himself in the city where he died. When he died, the whole town shut down all the shops and businesses so that everyone could attend his funeral. He was known and loved for his work in inventing solutions to problems. He had an amazing mind. My brother was overwhelmed by the crowds of people who loved the man my nephew became.
Today, I think of the youth that died because of that cynical old coot. What innovations could have been in our future? We will never know. Those fertile minds were killed. Stopped in mid-flight. It is a sad day. There is so much that did not make sense and there are so many questions.
Investigators will investigate. I hope answers will be found.
I love hanging around young people because they are idealistic. We just had our Harvest Party last Saturday. We had people of ages from 13 – 85 years old, and ages in between. My 13 year old buddy is a delight to be around. He enjoys food as much as we do. We sat and ate pumpkin pie, and drank a cup of coffee while he picked out all the flavors he was tasting. He could pick out different notes in the coffee with each bite of pumpkin pie.
I try to balance idealism, with a dash of realistic cynicism.
