Or does the fact that it’s wrong always outweigh the possibilities of any ultimately good outcomes? If you say that there are/ can never be any good that comes out of bad choices, why does divinity typically get a free pass simply because such beings are supposed to know better?

Morality is not black and white, good and bad at extremes. There are many shades of grey. Life is full of choices where the lesser evil is the best choice. It is not all about weighing shit versus gold, but instead about weighing varieties of nuggets with differing levels of gold and differing levels of dirt.
Salvation from God is ultimately about happiness. That is a gift from God, which we call love. Happiness is the secret of life, love is happiness and happiness is love. You can get billions of dollars and global praise fame, but be unhappy. Bad people do bad things because they are doing it out of unhappiness. Good people do good things because they are doing it out of happiness.
Spiritual means non-material, so thoughts and feelings are spiritual. Gold is not spiritual. Happiness is spiritual. You can not stick gold coins into your heart and if you eat gold you may die. But, happiness is the real gold to find in life. And it provides immortality.
True happiness is true love is true immortality. Never ending happiness is a cup which runs over and a feast before friends and enemies alike.
This starts with the assumption that we are “masters” of knowing right and wrong. We categorically are not. We trip up on the objective vs the subjective; and we seem to delight in calling wicked things good and good things wicked — and then hunting religiously for the correct bias and justification to render ourselves “right”. We are unenlightened; and blocked from even small forays into enlightenment by things like ego and feelings (the flesh) being “master” over us.
Divinity is simply held as “the Creator” of the possibilities that spun off into right and wrong — and at the End of Time, as the final judge of such. So it’s not a “free pass” so much as it’s respecting that WE are not the Creator of such. (Though allegedly with God’s assist we can start to understand and exercise control over these things in our own lives; as an “education” for some amazing future).
It’s not good to wax bitter, simply because we are not divinity.
According to the bible… we are masters of the knowledge of good and evil by the bible’s own definition! THAT, ironically enough, is the ONE thing the devil told 100% the truth of “you shall know good from evil!” Otherwise ANY punishment for eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would be utterly insane, making god evil. What we DO with that knowledge is another thing entirely.
Which verse identifies us as the masters of Good and Evil? The knowledge of them is a very far cry from any wisdom regarding them!
What the devil said was 100% true; but not 100% of the truth.
It’s a trick you’ve picked up on my friend!
1776…
King George probably felt that American colonists were doing wrong when America’s founding fathers broke from English tyranny to form an independent country. It was done by men doing all the wrong things for all of the right reasons.
No.
……..Déjà vu
got to agree with @Weenis (again) – if it’s right, it’s not wrong, and vice versa.
that’s black and white. Things are more complicated than that.
not necessarily
A woman prostitutes herself to earn money to get ahead in life. She scrimps and saves and is able to go to college, eventually escaping the life. Are the men who visit her for her services good or bad? Is she good or bad for accepting (even temporarily) men to use her for the purposes of sex?
A woman gets pregnant by a guy who doesn’t love her. In one universe she keeps the baby and struggles to eke by an existence. In another she has an abortion because adoption isn’t a viable option and is able to be better off financially. Which version is better?
These are just 2 of the complexities of life. There are no right or wrong answers. Everyone must decide for themselves.
“Everyone must decide for themselves.”
– and I decided that right is right and wrong is wrong. Seeing things as black and white works for me now. Makes it so I can compartmentalize things easier. My wife thinks I am having some memory issues (at 53, it’s concerning – but how am I to argue if I can’t recall? haha!), so simplifying more complicated issues makes my life more manageable.

You do realize that you say the above, while telling @halfbreed he’s wrong, right?
The complexity is there whether we recognize it or not. The question is whether or not we as individuals let that selfsame completely affect us!
No it’s not.
So you’re going to say that the world is so simple, all problems have already been solved?
Are you saying I’m wrong?
i think it depends on perspective, moment and definition of right vs wrong
