If you isolate away from the shared value system there is no foundation for any lasting positive feelings. Only negative ones persist. And that extracts a terrible toll over time.
This was a comment from today’s lecture that really shone forth for me.
It seems to explain the abundance of negative emotions showing up as the “power source” in a lot of isolationist and deconstructionist ideologies and personal maps of meaning.
It also shows up in a lot of psychological and mental illnesses.
It’s like the foundation for positive emotions has been destroyed. And that means the destination of “better”, is undefinable and unreachable.

I would have to disagree. People who don’t care for or fit in with the current value system can find other like minded people and build their own support system, even if the system itself is in isolation.

What “oppressed vs. the oppressor” mindset are they running with?
That doesn’t seem to be their drive or motivation. Plus they still seem very willing to interact civilly with people of differing beliefs structures.
And their “protests” are so peaceful it’s almost like they never happen!
I found it is best to stay away from forums that bait me into answering with my opinion, then answers with messages behind the answer that says:
You are wrong, because my way of thinking is so much better that yours.
You are wrong because I use music and this song to be so much more superior than you.
You are wrong because I am studying psychology and blah-blah-blah proving you are wrong.
The President of the United States is a bad person and you are wrong to follow him.
If you get your news right from the President himself, then your news source is wrong.
These are the negative vibes I get from SoulSequel.
Not answering and falling into the spring-loaded traps makes life a more pleasing experience. So, I stopped answering here and it cut out all negativity from my days. Now, I only visit the sites with positive and conservative views. Life just got brighter.
I am isolating out the negativity.

@griz “in each of us”??? You are asking me to inspect or judge others? I don’t do that. I have no idea about the psyche of others. Everyone is different. I have never studied isolation, let alone experienced it for myself. So, I wouldn’t know about other people’s isolation. I only know that when something is negative and keeps slapping at me —- like some members of SoulSequel do —- I simply go away and find other groups that are more friendly and conservative. There is no reason to hang around negativity.

Unless you too are an alien, there are common traits in all Humans. (And some aliens too!)
And one of the reasons to flee from external negativity, is we fear it may touch the negativity in us.
A shield is better than an escape plan. Because then those owned by negativity cannot dictate where we will and won’t be.
And what better place to develop it, than in a forum where there are people who perhaps to some degree, care about us?
I caught the dig about “studying psychology”. For me it’s a way of deeper understanding (so I won’t have to either flee or hate), and not a “better way to wage war” against my enemies. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t have any.
@griz I believe in leaving people the hell ALONE and I am NOT invested in changing anyone. Am I wrong to want people to be who they are and to not impose on them? If it is wrong, then according to Griz I am wrong again. I WILL LEAVE, fuck this!!!!
Not sure what you mean. I can tell you my whole family tends to just stick together. Like many in this age, we watch tv, play video games, and such.
We do communicate a lot with friends, mostly online or on phone.
Satan goes for “negative emotions” – like fear and shame – to extort people, to force them to do their bidding. Ultimately, Satan wants to tear down everyone, struggle with people’s spirits until they lose the battle and die.
That is what Satan (in the plural as Satan is not just one person now) does. And this is what his offspring do.
Think Bill Cosby and all the horror he caused people, which he went around thinking he would never be exposed. Or Kevin Spacey.
Before they had some kind of charisma most of us just accept and did not have suspicions about.
