Lost Souls… Can You Lose Your Soul?

How do people lose their souls. Have you noticed this IRL? What does it look like.

Do you have a soul, and do you believe it can be lost? Have you ever gotten lost?

How do you find your soul again, if lost?

And, the opposite? How do you feed your soul?

Pick and choose or answer all….

  1. There is only one sure way that I’m aware of for someone to lose their soul…If you tell the Holy Spirit to leave you alone or go take a flying leap, then He will, and for eternity you will be screwed. Perhaps maybe one other way is to “sell your soul” to the devil in an attempt to fulfill some foolish desire for fame or wealth, then you’re just as screwed as the first example. Have fun in hell because that is where you’re bound.

I don’t know if one can find their soul after doing one of those two things aforementioned. Gods grace covers us because of Christs sacrifice on the cross. That was the greatest gift that mankind could receive, but if one refuses that gift, I seriously doubt it would be offered a second time.

You can feed your soul, kind of like that old story of the two wolves, one is a bad wolf the other is a good wolf…whichever wolf you feed is how you feed your soul.

@Jear77 Okay, so you have no soul. And apparently no asperger’s syndrome… how’s that working out? Heh…whoosh. :-)

I am not going to argue with you on the existence of your own self. As for other cultures not having a concept of it…. yeah. Okay.

Maybe think about the concept of “I”, instead?

“I” concept is equivalent to the concept of “soul”. Etc, etc.

But, you do not want to acknowledge your own inner life existence, I can’t do anything with that.

If you do, then what? What are you going to do with your Self? (Another word, etymologically traced back to soul.)

Arguing, though, is fighting. It is dumb. What we do all the time. Heck, Jacob had to fight with God all night. But, he actually wanted something he could process internally, because he had a rich internal… self/life/soul.

Speaking of, you do not need more *I*. You need *we*.

@Jear77 I mean you have to have more then just your own one person in your heart.

If you are just living for your own self, you might as well be living in total darkness.

@Jear77 Ah, well, you just answered my just previous response, then.

        Maybe, maybe not… definitely not.

But, who knows. Maybe you are not just a “toaster” or ‘grinch’, and your heart just needs some oil. Over many, many, many years, then, if you keep up a daily regime of giving your heart oil, it might begin to grow to finally become a real, living, breathing heart.

        Or, maybe overnight.

Right now, does look like you are either very weak to criticism and looking at your own face in the mirror.

Money… the entire system can collapse. Hackers can steal it. Thieves can find it and take it.

I love the superhero framework, it is great for expressing things right now. But, in the real world, the superheroes put all of their savings into Heaven.

@five2one i know what it says. “Do not worry.” Sorry, that’s BS.
Tell that to people dying painfully, where not even sleep gives them a respite from their pain and no cure is in sight.
Tell that to people who have lost their jobs, but time has moved on, so that what was relevant a few years ago, isn’t valid any more and they can’t pay their rent.
Tell that to people who have lost their entire life’s savings and can’t face another day if work.
Tell that to people who are so estranged from their loved ones that no matter how they change, it’s useless. Or conversely, the loved one beeds to change, but won’t.
Tell the people who are in a SHTF situation.
So no. Not worrying isn’t an option.

Your stance is not unreasonable, though I am frustrated you do not believe what I am telling you. But, I also know what I believe I believe because I have evidence. God is clearly withholding evidence from you for some reason.

Same thing happened to Job, so who am I to judge?

I do not think, on one level, it is wise to take the stance that “God has wronged me, and I want him to come here and explain matters to me.” Which is the stance you are taking. But, Job did the very same thing, so who am I to judge. You may be a more righteous man then me.

Why did Job do it? I suppose I have tended to go and think on your posts, “Well, this guy has all these resources Job did not have”.

I have witnessed massive evidence for God, my own self. That does not mean I am a better person then you. I could be a dark angel given this information simply to destroy me, for all I really know.

Can I bring God down from Heaven, though? No. But, I do know that the steps I took to get the real evidence I can tell you. But, if you are righteous person like Job, and I am not, then God is just waiting.

@five2one actually Job was told (Twitter version) “you don’t understand. You can’t.” To which i say “Bullshit.” or even if true “It’s irresponsible and evil to boot to design a creature to have said questions and not give them the mental capacity to understand.” A benevolent god would disallow said questions to begin with by not having a choice in the matter.

It’s more like he lost his faith in the religious construct of God.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. For God cannot be rendered by a man-made construct.

What red balloon blind people guy said, j33rleader 77.

Cylons have no souls, they are Toaster is what they are!

Probably only way to believe a soul exists is to be able to actually see other’s souls.

I see people ruining their souls, but when they get their soul taken from them, all that is left is just a little empty Me that has no capacity to do anything but stare blankly into the void and miss having it.

I so love the killing the red balloons things the government tried to do in that song, and my favorite jeerleader who has all the nasty jeering things to say so I can sharpen myself. :-)

More have some version of it, than don’t.

Remember that the postmodernist axioms that you are relying heavily on right now are flawed, and I have showed you how. Constructing exceptions doesn’t disqualify a truth.

“Of limited use” — not as powerful or fully realized — is NOT the same as “useless”.

It’s a matter of the right tool for the job.

This might be a good time to examine the value of science as one’s exclusive tool for everything. It’s only good for telling us what stuff is made of and how that stuff interacts.

It cannot tell us how we should act in a subjective or moral arena.

@griz and neither, apparently does the god you worship. Almost every area the bible says no, except to those things that would make one unfit to be in society (murder, stealing) science has proven either neutral or beneficial.

Correct that to “the god you tried to worship” and we will have an accord!

(BTW, my God . . . is neither a book nor a religion! Have you noticed that every time you go off on a tear, it’s against either a book or a religion?)

A specific lock needs a specific key. There is nothing profound, surprising, counterintuitive, or unfair in this “rule”. One could say it’s axiomatic.

But it can be problematic if one has absorbed the notion that one is so precious everything should just fall open at their feet without effort or responsibility.

That’s a kind of perverse psychological welfare state.

I understand the cultural and religious framework of “soul, and “lose your soul”.

I think our definitions are incorrect and that means any attempt to work the equation will come up with an incorrect answer.

The Bible and other sacred texts assert that we are made in God’s image. That is a spiritual image not a soulful image.

A soul is what happens when that Spirit becomes corrupt and lost.

So how does one lose what is already lost? And while there might be such a thing as “more lost” and “irretrievably lost”, from a pragmatic viewpoint lost is lost.

So how does one find that which is lost? In the case of spirit, by returning to where it originated.

    In God. It’s “God’s image”!

(Which for those ravaged by religious ideologies, does not mean having to return to the God-constructs of that religious ideology)
