of souls and mates

Do you believe in souls? do you believe in soul mates? what defines a soul mate? do you think our soul mates are designed by the souls we are born with, the pure beginnings of who we are, or the souls that develop as we live and grow? do you think our souls change as time goes on? does that mean that in order for us to meet our soul mate, we have to meet at a just so time, when our souls are actually in line? and so maybe missed chances or bad timing or not meant to bes are because our souls were not in line just then?

Just sitting here thinking about past chances. About the human (who seems to be the last man on earth not on social media…) who i just keep dreaming about, who maybe just maybe one day will walk around a corner and look as happy to see me as he did the last time we ran into each other. who maybe i am more suited for now (now that my life is more on track, now that my soul and heart are not of the hot mess category… now that it is 20 years later hahahah gah! dream on dream on) than i was then. i wonder if he believes in souls now

It’s possible. But sometimes just because we think that this person or that is compatible with us, is the missing piece that will complete us, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s true. We can hurt them, we can change or they do and everything we built ends up being for nothing. I’ve seen this pattern happen again and again. This can even happen when a couple has been together for YEARS and one suddenly decides for absolutely no reason that s/he is gay. And when it happens the other partner is often confused as to what s/he did wrong.

Do we have souls? I have no idea. I don’t really worry about it. “I don’t believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.”, ~Lennon

I think we change and grow as humans. Souls or no souls.

Good to see you. I hope you find that person.

  3. Is the soul the voices in my heads?
Is it kinda like,.. humans pretending they’re not animals?

it must be something like that?
but maybe it is the thing that remains of our animal being? maybe when we start to give voice and word we forget we are animals too?

I don’t believe we have souls or soul mates. The connections we have with certain people can absolutely feel like there is a bigger connection there. I think we can have those with more than just one person. It is just that the number of those individuals is so low or they are in a different state or country.

Personally, I think we’ve got something within that I would categorize as a soul and it’s as undefinable as the difference between singing a song and expressing the same words in a way that they connect with a listener (Think Aretha).

Because I can’t separate my tangible from my intangible doesn’t mean it can’t be done and to be candid; I don’t think I would recognize it if I could. I think one of the main reasons we want a soul is because we know our bodies have a finite lifespan and we hope the soul doesn’t, but I don’t expect whatever comprises the reality of my soul won’t extend as a copy of what I currently represent. I “think” I will be a smaller part of a bigger reality.

So, the real crux of the question, the blending of souls in the reality of now. Yes it is real but it is very uncommon, mainly because it requires zero consumption of the energy generated by the other, until it combines as a third “product” from which both can then “feed”. It happens when two souls express a desire to give towards, rather than take from. To find this needle in a haystack is tough because you need to be willing to take a hit until someone won’t exploit a gimme because it is just so easy to take.

Anyway, if you can survive the search; its worth the effort. Five minutes with a true soul mate can feed a need in perpetuity.

      that is deep and hopeful
which is what love can be
as much as it can be scary or hard it can be deep and hopeful

we are who we are and we will be what we will be
i think sometimes i look back as opposed to forwards because back there some place was something that felt good. even if it wasnt right enough to last. and i wonder about that…

hope all is swell with you and yours!

I don’t know about soulmates. I think we have souls.

I know that when I was about 5 years old, I had dreams of sky blue eyes — just the eyes.
When I was 8, there was a boy playing kick-the-can in the street with the other teenaged kids in our neighborhood. He was 14 years old. I ran out our front door to get a better look. He had sky blue eyes. He saw me and stopped playing. The other kids were calling him back to the game —— but he asked me who I was and sat down on the curb to talk to me. He was a rascal and sometimes a bad boy, but he was what love was all about to me. We got along so well and nothing he did would make me love him less. Through good times and bad times we were the best of friends. That lasted 50 years, and we only decided to be married for the last 13 of those 50 years. We each had other partners, but did not get along as well with anyone else. Soul mates? I don’t know about soul mates, but we were always giving to the relationship without thought of what to take out of it. We were on each other’s side and made each other’s life a joy. I loved him like that until the day he died. Then in memory, the bad times fade and only good memories remain.

Life goes on and there comes that someone who simply fits together with you. Love came again. We rarely have disagreements. We fit like an old pair of running shoes, or those old worn jeans. We are comfortable together. Is Immortal Pirate my soul mate? Who knows. We fit together and life is good. I look forward to each and every day with him.

I hope that you will find that person who will just fit in your life. That person who is worth the effort that it takes to give towards the relationship everyday. A relationship is like one of your hats that you create. You work with it to make it better and better. You crimp it here and take in a stitch there until it fits you. I wish that for you.

A soul is a starting point just as an infant is a starting point.
An infant has ” the programming” to grow and mature; yet without outside assistance they will perish. But with proper care growth and maturity happen even without conscious choice.

It is the same for a soul: except conscious choice is a continual part of the process. Without it we never become “spiritual”; but remain “soulful”. Lost. Needy. Unable to care for ourselves and ultimately will perish.

I don’t think an ultimately freed person is limited to just one perfect choice for a mate. We have a lot of freedom and choice in making this happen of another person; and it making ourselves their perfect mate.

But remember that with people, “perfect” rarely means fully assembled out of the box, fast food convenience, destined to be thrown away the moment it does not please satisfy or requires some work.

If this is what we mean by “perfect mate”, we need some serious adjustment.

  9. I think the idea of one single soul mate for each and every person kinda does a disservice to society because it greatly limits the love we seek to receive and the love we seek to give. We’re capable of so much more love that we think. I love my wife with all my heart and we make a great match but she’s not the only person I’ve ever loved or the only person I COULD love. Love is only limited by my belief.
