I know @Yin is a major gamer. I do not play games, but I enjoy a really good SciFi movie. It looks like Stephen Spielberg has an amazing movie coming out called: Ready Player One.
I will be curious to hear what you think of this movie, especially @yin.

It looks like something Immortal Pirate will like. I am not a person who wastes time playing games, but I like some SciFi. Immortal Pirate received a Virtual Reality game set for Christmas and it is still in the box — ignored — un played. But, we love movies!!! Thank you for this.
@ladybarbara I think you too should see this on the big screen, in a darkened theater. Make it a date night out.
@Gina Oh yes! We like to go to our local Harkins Theater for movies like this.
@ladybarbara I will only go to the theaters that have recliners in them now. The theater is less crowded and so very comfortable. You pick your seats in advance, so there’s no pressure hoping you get your best seat.
I saw the trailer before. There are quite a few animes out there with a similar premise. Unlike some of the other ones, the people in this,situation are not trapped in the VR setting.

Living in a virtual world has become a topic with friends and family.
The concern is that our youth have less to look forward to than us Boomers perception of our own future. Many are working humdrum, low income service jobs and their on line personas have a better experience than in real life. Many are choosing to prioritize the virtual over the reality. Because what is reality? It’s what you may choose it to be.
This movie is on my definite “to see” list. I think it may represent a very real future and personally, I think it is something to be avoided versus embraced
We have some whacky priorities as a species. I’ve been following the Bezos/Musk enthusiasm for setting up colonies on the Moon & Mars. I hear people talking enthusiastically about being space pioneers there and I really wonder “why?” We have this incredibly beautiful planet here and rather than save it; people are spending to leave it…and for what?
This movie is about choosing to be something you want to be. Sure there are obstacles to being those things given the reality of circumstance, but in both cases, effort is required at one degree or another. Why not channel the energy into reality?
@spitfire3dc I can’t stand all the space talk, moving to Mars and such. I agree, why are we wasting time, money and resources trying to colonize another planet? I wish those rich people would spend all their money on this planet. I don’t think humans deserve this planet.
The book was great, if you guys like the idea of this movie, read the book first.
@Weenis I didn’t know this was based on a book. My partner likes to read the book before seeing a movie, but she is always disappointed afterwards. I rather enhance my movie experience by reading the book afterwards.

Yeah, the book has been out for a while. All nostalgic nerd culture stuff. I actually wish they weren’t making this movie.
Not giving anything away, in short, the story is a mixture of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, World of Warcraft, Ender’s Game, Revenge of the Nerds, Canadian Bacon, Freaks and Geeks, Army of Darkness, Princess Bride, Highlander, and Monty Python.
Not going to lie, I didn’t really pay attention when I first saw the trailer on tv and YouTube ads. Just something about so much animation in a live action movie. Felt odd. I’m not talking about just using CGI since I sat through and enjoyed Justice League recently, but like, it is a purposely animated world within a live action movie. Actually paying attention to it though, it got me pretty interested in it.
It amazes me they got the rights to use so many characters and whatnot. Things that I noticed: Mach 5 from Speed Racer, the Bat Mobile with Batman driving, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, army of Master Chief’s from Halo, Tracer from Overwatch, Ryu and Chun Li from Street Fighter, the Iron Giant, King Kong, Big Foot monster truck, Harley Quinn and Joker from Batman. I think I see Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Blanka from Street Fighter, Battletoads, Deadshot from Batman, a Gundam robot, Chucky. And that is just the ones I noticed slowing this one trailer and normal speeding the ones on had to sit through on TV or YouTube. It is absolute insanity. Also, RIP trailer park high rise they had going. And shout out to that lady from Killjoys being in the movie. She is awesome. I’d be down to watch it now. It’s got my interest.
@yin I thought the same thing when I saw the commercials for it, kinda of meh. My interest was peaked when I saw an interview with actress/writer Lena Waithe. She’s in it, and they had just showed it at SXSW to rave reviews; and she talked about working with Steven Spielberg. A new Spielberg Sci Fi?!?! Heck yeah I want to see it! One of my favorite movies is ET. The $power$ of Spielberg is why they got the rights to so many characters. I even saw Chucky flying by in one scene.
So, is Trailer Park High Rise a game?
@Gina Saw another trailer for it a little bit ago. Freddy Kruger got blasted in it. I can see it being a Spielberg thing. He was suppose to be making a Halo movie years back, but they didn’t go with it. Unfortunate, since it was one of my favorite games and has an interesting story. I think they are making a Halo show though for HBO where Spielberg is the executive producer. I don’t have HBO though, so that is unfortunate as well. The stack of mobile homes in the trailer reminded me of high rises. Then, they blew them up. Never seen or thought of stacking trailers like that. Would be crazy.
Can’t watch it, because it is late, but sure it will be very, very good.
