Not necessarily. In an episode of “beyond tomorrow,” a show that ended like 5-7 years ago, photoreceptive materials are being developed so that stuff like paint / dye / coloring without panels can be voltaic in nature. If said materials have been perfected, the only thing that is necessary is a surface which to paint.
A). at what cost for these advanced technologies, and for such a long wall built in very remote places on very extreme topography? (Let’s remember Bush Sr. wanted to build a simple fence of “common” materials. Cost was ludicrously prohibitive and deemed logistically impossible some areas.)
B). and for the stated intent of “saving Mexico money”??
Conceptualization is spotty at best. This does seem more like damage control crossed with wishful thinking that hasn’t been too well thought-out.
There is one thing: how long is the border? Could all the southern states bordering it use the electricity that it produces (and maybe a few beyond,) depending on how (long? far?) one could transport it via wires. The one thing about electricity is that it’s not too store-able. Unless one can figure out how to make, store, and send out electricity from batteries.
If building a simple wall (or just a fence) is logistically unfeasible in many areas, how much more feasible will it be to build the electrical infrastructure there to harvest and boost the power to transmit it from these remote regions?
This is just a classic Trumpism containing little thought and the necessity to alter various laws of reality for the sake of keeping his popularity high.
It’s akin to trying to keep an unfeasible idea alive by simply painting it a different color.
If the wall is solar powered, I hope it will self energize itself to be an electric zapper-wall. It will be as entertaining as an oversized bug zapper.
Actually it’s kinda shrewd if we built this huge solar thing that’d power the border on both sides. The wall should have filtered water running over the top that cascades down the sides like a huge water-fallish-wall-thing, and call it Our Aqueduct instead of fuckin goshdarn mmimigraaaaant waaall.
