STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES: To relax; to take time out of one’s busy schedule to enjoy or appreciate the beauty of life.
The world is very frightening right now. To stay sane I spend time in nature.
Please post a nature photo. I would love to see something beautiful from your part of the world.
This is a black rose from my yard. The bud starts out and it’s black, and it ends up this velvety, gorgeous red.

I wanted to add another photo from my hike on Mount Rainier last month. Luckily I picked the week where we had gorgeous blue skies. The past 2 weeks our skies have been choked out with smoke from the British Columbia, Canada wildfires. We have had amazing looking, and ominous red suns and moons. It’s kind of hard to breath this air though. Thank god we are expecting some rain this weekend.
This post motivated me to look through the pics on my phone and I had so many I wanted to share. The red earth in Prince Edward Island was one. Some of the rivers we have stopped along just to listen to them rushing by, Calm lakes, autumnal mountains and even one helluva Greek Salad that exemplifies nature’s bounty. I couldn’t pic so I’m just offering this collage I put together a while back.
I think I learned to stop and smell the roses a while ago. It’s my favourite thing to do.
@spitfire3dc Thank you for posting these! More locations to put on my bucket list of must see places. We both live in very beautiful countries. I am getting ready to head out into nature in the next few minutes. Peace and joy to you.
Went on to reddit after signing off and first thing I see is this.
Algonquin Park is our Yellowstone. It is spectacular in so many ways. I’ve done a canoe trip into its heart and it is mindblowing at night.
It is to the woods what Everest is to mountains.
Stop and smell the first tomatoes that come in the Fall. Our growing season here in Arizona starts in August plantings. September brings growth of plants. November flowers, and harvests in December, January, February, and final harvest in March. April is the month to put the garden to bed because May, June and July will be so hot it cooks the plants and burns everything. I planted these tomatoes in April and we fought a mean war with the heat of the sun. Finally planting season is here and I am rewarded with early tomatoes. It is the tomato plants saying thank you for protecting me from the burning sun. Then, I get the first fig on my new fig tree.
@ladybarbara First tomatoes!
My garden is coming along nicely in the greenhouse that Immortal Pirate built for us.
This is the only picture I have that shows anything from nature. My Lady and a tree…
