A documentary, by British television producer Martin Durkin, which argues against the virtually unchallenged consensus that global warming is man-made. A statement from the makers of this film asserts that the scientific theory of anthropogenic global warming could very well be “the biggest scam of modern times.”

Actually global warming is a misnomer. Warming was just the initial manifestation that we noticed.
More accurately it is human accelerated climate change: a scientific inevitability based on the sheer volume of carbon we are pumping into the environment that normally is locked safely away in the Earth.
There is a lot of traction in trying to dodge accountability for what we have done. And to stop doing it will indeed cost us in money.
But once again we have an older generation about to bow out saying there’s no problem but leaving a huge problem for the grandchildren to deal with.
In 258000+ years on this planet, I have lived through a major ice age, a major flood, a major drought period, and a minor ice age followed by hot and cold weather severity, all of which mankind had absolutely no causational effect on.
Remind me again what Humanity’s global carbon footprint was like back then?
Also contrast the speed with which it is happening. Changes that took hundreds of years to happen we’re now seeing in less than a decade.
( though wasn’t the Great Smog of London shown to have affected climate and Public Health even with a fraction of today’s population?)
I can understand us not wanting this to be so. Still there could be benefits to the United States turning into a desert, and Canada being the new Bread Basket for the world!
Even all of the exhausted diesel your truck belches out on an annual basis has little or no effect on the NATURAL cycle of change the planet experiences…
Multiplied by how many stacks? How many chimneys? How many exhaust pipes just going around the corner to pick up a pizza?
It said there’s more people living today than have ever lived and died in all of combined human history.
And we’re set to more than double that before this century is over.

Climate changes all the time, usually by natural factors. Human hubris is greatly involved here. What people need to focus on is basics human need first like clean drinking water. Which Flynt still does not have, nor probably countless others cities.
But first priority should be immortality and justice. People talk about saving the world while destroying themselves first and faster.
Exactly, and mankind has little or no effect on the cycle of warming and cooling taking place on the planet. Throwing money at a naturally occurring event is a waste of resource that could be better spent on more humane efforts.
The climate changes even without our help. What is at issue here is just how rapidly it is happening this time. Species are dropping away at an alarming rate because they cannot adapt quickly enough. And we know for a fact that our activities, mainly our greed and laziness accelerates this process.
I wonder if by “throwing money at it”, what we really mean is “not extracting as much as we currently are”? It would be exceedingly greedy of us to use it all up so our children have nothing left that can be extracted from it to the detriment of their children.
We have to keep up the human tradition you know!

It sounds like you’re just not happy with the way our society is dealing with our issues. Is it because you place greater value in the issues that can address our problems within humanity or is because you truly feel that global warming is a hoax?
@mamajoy, Perhaps a little of both. The hoax is the belief that man causes global warming and climate change. Man has very little to do with causation. Wasting resources on an imaginary problem only serves the greed of those who control the narrative. Global warming is an industry built upon a lie. The so called climate science is cherry picked to fit the narrative that the world will be thrown into climate chaos unless we pay billions of dollars to prop up the flawed science. The planet wide mean temperature will only increase 0.03 degrees Fahrenheit in 100 years, hardly enough to melt polar ice and “flood” coastal areas. Climate is always changing…it’s called weather. It is controlled by the SUN. Man can not control the sun. Carbon dioxide is an essential gaseous element to life on this planet. Photosynthesis, the action that converts CO2 into O2 via trees and green plants is controlled by, that’s right, THE SUN. The priests of the church of global warming (Al Gore being the POPE of that belief system) would have you believe that carbon dioxide is a dangerous pollutant; that is the main lie of man made global warming and climate change. Therefor, Carbon Tax, like so many other taxes, is theft. Carbon taxes and carbon offsets are like buying indulgences, (something the Catholic Church did in the middle ages). I hope this clarifies my previous reply…
Thank you for explaining. Like I said before I’m not educated enough on the matter to take a strong position on the issue one way or another, but I do like your idea of investing in issues that affect humanity and I wish that more action were taken in areas like that.
The planets passing through our solar system might have a lot to do with the weather anomalies. If so, no amount of throwing money at them will make them move any faster through space. We have to simply survive what they bring until they have passed us and travel back out into space on their natural orbit paths.

I’m 100% for the decentralization of power grids, but cap & trade is the scam whether you think the warming trend is man-made or not. Concentrating on the anthropogenic aspect is just some more “tastes great” “less filling” bullshit to give people something to bitch about. We should all be against pollution and waste, but not if we can semantically poke each other for something that could happen after we’re all dead?

@Gina Where in the article did it say anything about him being a communist? I am not on the wrong side of anything. You’re entitled to your opinion, but that in no way makes you right, it’s just your opinion. I don’t deny climate change…I just don’t believe that mankind effects climate so extremely as you do. Heating and cooling of the planet(s) is all due to solar activity, and throwing money at a problem that man can not realistically affect is a waste of money. The Paris Climate Accord is a swindle. It also deprives developing countries access to technology that would bring them into the 21st century.
As for America, we could better spend that money we will not be paying to the Paris Accord on our own infrastructure improvements, like roads, bridges, tunnels, rail systems, dams and water. I would much rather it be used to fix the water problem in Flynt Michigan than see it wasted on unrealistic “climate science” boondoggle. Carbon Offsets is just a scam.

You obviously don’t know how the Paris Agreement works. We don’t have to pay them anything. It’s to encourage all the world to create clean energy and such. Even fucking Russia is in the agreement. Only Syria (and they have bigger fish to fry like trying to stay alive now) and Nicaragua who thinks the agreement doesn’t go far enough did nt’ sign it. The whole fucking word is signed the agreement, and dumb ass Trumpanzee thinks the world is laughing at us because we signed the agreement with them. How stupid is that?! I do know how it works, it’s a redistribution of wealth scheme. It is NOT a treaty, it was never a treaty, it was never ratified. In point of fact, Obama never brought it before Congress because he knew they would not agree to it. So, President Trump pulled us away from it to the betterment of AMERICA. Screw what the rest of the world thinks we should do with our tax payers money.
