How often do you watch TV? Me, I watch it about every night now as a form of escape!
Should everyone have a television in their home? Sure, Why not? I will say some people could maybe benefit from limiting tv in the home.
What is the best way to watch television: On a television set, computer, tablet or phone? A television set for sure! I think those screens cause insomnia!
What do you think will be the future of television? I think there will be holographic televisions one day. I think cable will become extinct, and everything will be streamed. I think we will communicate through our tvs one day.
What is your opinion on television? I think it is okay in moderation. We need escapism in this crazy world.
If you had your own TV show, what would it be like? Hmmm, it would probably be a sitcom where I play a therapist, but I think that premise has been done!

I spend most of my days and nights staring at a screen. At my Los Angeles house, where only Vivi and I lived, there were 5 televisions!!! We had three computers and we each carried two phones. Why two phones??? We had house cleaning businesses and each carried a phone that was answered in a professional way.
Nowadays, I am retired. I get on the computer to check my gmail, check the weather, and get on facebook. I also check to see how many earthquakes Southern California has had. They only had 78 earthquakes today, but have had 10,052 earthquakes in the last 30 days. That is a lot of earthquakes!!!
I watch FOX News Channel a lot. I watch the Science Channel and Discovery Channel, too. There are times that I check the local news, but if I hear the news “Trump thumping” and being disgracefully nasty towards the President of the United States, then I change the channel. I don’t need to hear such disrespect.
I was raised limiting my television watching, but my days were scheduled by the TV shows that were on.
At 95, my Mom thought her mind was slipping away and she did not watch TV. I bought her a new TV. I got her cable TV hooked up.
Instead of saying dementia, Mom said dimension. So, one day she asked me, “Do you think I might have dimension?” I thought she was talking about cable TV companies. I said, “Well, there is Dimension. I have Charter Communications, but, I think you have COX.” ——- She looked at me like I insulted her and said, “No, I don’t!!! I am a female!”
I watch television on a television. We only have two TVs in this house. I don’t watch television shows on my phone, computer, or tablet. The screens are too small for me. When I watch television, I watch it on a big screen that takes up most of a living room wall. I want to be part of the action.
There are already TVs that you can hook up to the internet, then there is the TV you can talk to. Changing channels by voice —– then there is Alexa (the Amazon Echo device). I don’t want my TV to have a camera to watch me, nor a speaker to listen in on what we say. I don’t want Alexa. If I want to know something, I will Yahoo it on my computer.
A TV show on my life would be boring!!! I could give lessons on gardening in buckets for people that have lousy soil, bad conditions, and just patio gardening. But, right now it would be — “How to kill House Plants.”

@Scarlett2 oddly, before going to bed I check my gmail, weather, Soulsequel, facebook, and see what the earthquake situation is in Southern California. I find the computer screen is soothing to my mind. Perhaps it is a cool-down from TV. I turn on my favorite FOX News radio station and listen to “Coast to Coast” as I go to sleep. I have very little trouble sleeping, but if I do —- well, I am retired and can always catch up with a nap during the day. I wake up when I hear Rush Limbaugh on my radio in the morning. There is something annoying about Rush’s voice that makes me want to spring out of bed and turn the radio off.
Most television is a mindless wasteland, (reality TV is NOT reality) and sit-coms are stupid. I probably watch too much TV. But the most I do watch is FOX NEWS, HISTORY and DISCOVERY. Occasionally, I watch a movie on one of the movie channels.
I, much like Lady Barbara, don’t want a TV that listens to me or watches me…

I watch WWE on Mondays and Tuesdays on TV. Will probably watch Mr. Robot on TV when the final season comes out. The rest of the stuff I watch is on the ABC site (Agents of SHIELD) and the CW site (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Black Lightning, iZombie) later on the night after they come on TV or a day or two after. I just like watching stuff when I want, which only really happened because the CW channel is bad quality. When there is a dark scene, you ain’t seeing anything. Not saying it is just too dark, but it being dark with the whole screen being pixelated, it isn’t good. I then just started using the site and liking the idea of using the site or apps for them. I think the future of TV is things like Netflix, Disney Plus, DC Universe (which I am kind of interested in because it comes with their catalog of digital comics as well.) I think more companies are just going to create their own streaming sites and apps and stop worrying with cable/satellite companies. I think the TVs themselves will end up being straight up computers. Smart TVs are kind of like that since it needs updates and you can put apps on them. When good computer tech can fit into a frame that small/flat, then I think we may been seeing some computer TVs. I think they will all eventually be that, maybe. Only thing is something like gaming computers. Those things cost a lot, and it would be a shame if you have to buy a whole new computer when it’s just your monitor not working. We will see though. A decent computer TV thing sounds about right though.
(I see I wrote kind of the same as you and just wanted to clarify that I stopped at the “holographic” part when I started my reply, lol. Streaming does seem to be the future, but I hope that doesn’t mean video games though. The whole cost thing combined with the question of “do you truly own the game” makes me not like that.)
@yin Interesting! what you say makes sense. I think its ridiculous the way these cable companies monopolize everything now, but I think with the streaming it will be hard on older folks who aren’t tech savvy.
I like your list of shows. Escapism is underrated.
I dont normally watch tv at all –
but i do study cop shows and mysteries so i can understnd the ways of the criminal mind. i studied brain scans of prisoners to determine the correct genome so i can figure out a solution to why the criminally insane are so smart. im almost there. so close. probably just a couple months until i produce my thessis topic paper. i should show you what i have so far.. its pretty detailed, not sure you all will understand but i can paraphrase –
