The truth of evolutionary biology is becoming increasingly unexpressable

We’ve come to a bizarre point where expressing a basic biological truths predicated by human evolution, is Politically Incorrect.

What is your prognosis for a society that renders evolutionary truth a taboo topic for discussion?

Google James Damore, fired Google engineer. (You may have to do a backdoor search. Google has recently been in full damage control on this one). Try looking for YouTube interviews with talk show hosts.

Lawrence Summers is another example. And there are many more.

Citing that there is abundant peer reviewed scientific evidence for measurable temperamental and behavioral differences between men and women can get a person castigated fired and called everything from a misogynist to a Nazi.

      ( and now a peterphile?? Seriously @luftballooneyegouge? )

@griz biology is one thing. Social thoughts/ expressions are quite another. It’s even a trope/ internet rule, which states “for every character there’s an opposite gender version out there”- and this idea of binary, at some point becomes useless.

While subjective experience can be very real for the person experiencing it, it can vary wildly from the objective reality that is expressed by scientific empiricism; or by the set of truths that indicate effective ways of interacting in the world.

There is absolutely no doubt of that. That’s Philosophical Phenomenology (which I’m coming to greatly respect).

BUT it CANNOT be divorced from the more enduring reality of the objective. Everything that is subjective about you utterly disappears from the empirically real arena not just when you die . . . but every time you fall asleep. (And perhaps every time we remain cowardly silent?)

EVERY advancement of our species that you as Jear might want to boast of, is a physically empirically real advancement . . . yes?

Can you see the presenting incongruity? Are the eyes starting to open from the dream?

The dream can be — and at times should be — very real to the person. But if it doesn’t find a proper place in the greater more enduring objective reality, it wanes into just selfish delusion.

Delusion that first destroys the individual, and then “vicitmized groups” destroy the society they are instantiated in.

@griz The only thing i loathe is pain/ sickness / exhaustion/ overwork. And half (or more) of the battle is getting enough sleep… or learning how to do with less and less and less sleep (they say that as you age you seen to need less sleep… I wonder when that’ll kick in), not eating in the morning before work (really before like noon), and taking pain meds when i NEED to, and not letting it getting too bad.

Life is complicated and messy. And involves all of these things you loathe, in great measure.
So learning to better deal with these realities of existence would seem the logical best step.

Shaking a fist at the sky doesn’t make anything better, and will probably make things a good deal worse as accepting responsibility for your current existence will be deferred on to others, or even the sky itself.

@griz but if i am incapable of getting more rest, and the less sleep i have, the more pain i am in and the more mistakes I make, wouldn’t it make more sense to embrace the fact that I’m going to make mistakes, as more rest isn’t on the cards. I try, but ultimately fail

Drug-induced wakefulness has its limitations and side effects.

So how about some more natural sleep?
        (Drugging this causes problems too).

One’s sleep-wake habits are a good place to start looking for stress reduction.
A good protein-rich breakfast at a predictable time is a good next step.

I hope you see that that is a self-defeating process.

Improper sleep means impaired ability to focus. That takes more energy ( or drugs) to try and compensate for. This means more wasted time from dealing with the aftermath of poorly conceived and/or implemented plans.

Which only adds to the impression that one doesn’t have enough time to get the proper sleep!

        It’s a destructive feedback loop.

The problem with that is that neither our bodies nor our minds function properly when all we have is free time. We were designed to carry a load — and the load that has meaning beyond just selfishness.

Money as you currently conceive it is very accurately abstracted as a drug. You are looking for it to do something for you that you don’t feel you can do yourself. And that you could do it with some precisely focused effort makes it a highly addictive drug.

The most highly successful people, whom you hold in great regard at some level of consciousness . . . Manage both a heavy workload and time to take proper care of themselves. Some add in a family. Some even do it with physical or psychological ailment that would make hours pale by comparison.

So money as your new addictive drug?

        Good luck with that.

But none of this distracts from the reality that you need to set aside the time for proper sleep.

The caution is in the assertion that you need to wait for money to come to make this possible.

If proper sleep isn’t there first, all of these other things will fall apart.

I find the 5-Hour Energy supplements work well too, provided you take them at the first signs of fatigue.

They are not hyper caffeinated like traditional energy drinks and rely instead on a niacin rush.
But they are a supplement the proper sleep not a replacement for it.

BTW, I’ve been rather pointed in some of my observations of late. I hope they are still proving helpful.

        Or at least tolerable!

Our very neural structure is keyed to find the greater objective reality existing around us and amend our smaller internal subjective reality to best live in that external space.
That is the very process by which life evolves and flourishes.

Trying to reverse this so the smaller subjective reality subsumes the greater objective reality is anti-life (pathogenic) and devolutionary.

There is certainly room for consideration of those with afflictions that complicate their effective handling of this internal/external equation.

But that should by no means involve allowing delusional states to infect and destabilize the greater society that has proven effective for millennia.

(A delusion is simply the inability to rightfully discern the correct workable equation between the internal subjective in the external objective unto stable instantiation over time)

@griz You could follow it back in time to the “tribe” of humans. Not all the men in the tribe wanted to run with the hunting packs and kill something to bring back to the cooking area. I’m sure some of the men who ran with the pack of men, enjoyed the running with fellow men, and did not take well with wemmin-folk. Some men may have been tool makers, leather tanners, and wood workers. Someone was great at building and feeding the tribal fires. Women were the gatherers and cooked, although, I’m sure there was a male chef to watch and turn the meat. Women were the weavers of blankets, makers of clothing. There might have been a diversity of sexuality, but the tried and true traditional was the way to keep the birth rate up and increased the numbers of tribal members.

        Exactly.
To try to re-write our past is to leave us without a proper “guiding story” — and humans are VERY “story-based”. It is how we passed on complex behavioral and behaviorial processes long before we could articulate them as “science”.
And even if people balk at it, The Church and organized religion played a vital role in this. The people wanting to “just forget it and leave it behind” are handicapping themselves and their children out of the “greater story” with a “divorce mindset”.

And the single greatest behavioral trait difference between men and women shown by statistical science, is that men tend towards interaction with things and women towards interaction with people. Neither is “superior” to the other. Both are necessary. And each has been molded by the natural bio-evolutionary assets of the two sexes.
And while the statistical “average” define “the norm”, there have always been males and females that were at the extremes of the statistical distribution (the “tails” on the bell-curve). The Biblical story of Jacob and Esau showcase this diversity.

There is HUGE arrogance and a considerable willingness to self-deceive in thinking we can just up and over-write hundreds of thousands of years of evolutionary selective process just because less than 1% of the population suffers with an affliction that creates gender identity dysphoria.
BUT . . . we also need to realize that to a great degree they are just pawns of a more pernicious agenda that is driven to radically re-construct society as nothing more than a simplistic and selfish power-play between “oppressor and oppressed”. Really, the very very small number of victims of gender dysphoria are just cannon-fodder to them.

The power-interplay is there in Human Society. It’s an off-shoot of the corruption that comes when one doesn’t have a proper “story” aligning them. But there is far far far more to the Human Experience, than just selfish power-plays one upon another.
And the perpetual down-fall of this kind of simplistic Marxist thinking, is that the power-struggle only goes 2 ways. So what happens when “the saintly oppressed” gain enough power to no longer be “the oppressed”?

They become the “evil oppressor”. (Stalin, Mao, Pol Poi, Ho Chi Minn, Idi Amin).

Wild clever and true, decades of bad parenting philosophies have produced several generations of insanely fragile and self-entitled people.
They are the true misfortunates, having had no say in the disastrous parenting practices that were inflicted upon them. Their best defense has been to flee into quasi-Marxist victimhood ideologies for protection and empowerment. Plus these victimhood ideologies give them all the emotional cookies and candies they crave, while excusing them from chewing on the true meat of every pressing social issue.

Our main question now is whether we use a blunt club or a sharp surgical tool to try to correct this?

Or do we just marginalize these lost generations into boxes of disenfranchised uselessness and wait for them to pass?
That seems more like an invite to war than a corrective procedure.

This is what happens when a society gets too fat off of feeding on their rights that they fail in their responsibility to be awake and alert to effectively dealing with pathological trends while they are still small enough do not involve major surgery.

There were no shortage of people who noticed it was a bad trend to weaken the traditional family, remove parental authority to effectively discipline children, an exercise pandering and spoiling of children.
But people figured it was not their responsibility to keep the society running straight and true, and went back to gorging on their rights.

While it’s still falls into the category of abnormal, it at least has physical objective instantiation, existing as more than just a subjective feeling one tries to mold the greater external reality according to.
