These are things with many levels to them.
The first level is things that are held as meaningful and true just for you in this moment or over the next few spans of moments (months, years). But our subconscious tells us that these things are not “it” — and produces a lot of people who pursue just meaning or truth for themselves but who still lament at some point, “the meaninglessness of it all”.
(Actually this is one of the more poignant downfalls of postmodernism)
The next level are things that are meaningful and true in a family context.
Then in a local social context.
Then in a national context.
Then in a planetary context.
Then in a racial context.
And out beyond this perhaps even to a Cosmic context.
And then all of these, over time. (They are constant and repeatable).
Things of real truth and meaning, are those things that work the best (not just in the moment, but over vast spans of time) at as many of these levels as possible.
Too many people lament “meaninglessness” . . . because they are “stuck” on the first level.

and therein may lie the issue with political considerations.
Being stuck in the first level and allowing ourselves to be motivated to vote in beliefs related to our current span.
Even trying to get someone to consider the social context is difficult, let along national or global and beyond.

And with more consideration, I wonder if the first level might itself be split into two levels?
The first would be just an emotional (instinctive) reckoning.
The second would be a reckoning that brings higher reasoning, logic, intelligence into the picture but still doesn’t extend beyond just self.
I get the feeling that most political considerations for most people, rarely get past the “instinctual”.
