@immortal_pirate Do you really think my thoughts and feelings come from hate? I have been chatting with you for 3 or so years. If you really believe that, you don’t know me. I am all about love baby.
We take things for granted in this world of privilege. Just pouring a glass of clean drinking water is symbolic of the way we tend to ignore the small miracles that we encounter every single day, while others needlessly suffer. We choose to partake like pigs at a trough with very little consideration to share that, of which we have too much.
This is the best way to express a point of view. Through rational delivery of fact based observations. Not insulting the opposition, which just leads to response in kind. If someone chooses to read this poster and not see the reality and truth of it; it is because they have already decided they don’t want to. Illustration of the right behaviour is essential to changing mind sets. Not demanding a change in attitude by displaying the attitude that one wants to change.
Tearing down a statue of historical significance like a mob doesn’t illustrate or model acceptable behaviour. It reinforces the need to respond in kind.
I know I went off track to the intention of this post here, but my concern is that while many may think that your country has reached the bottom, the privilege that you are referring to may be blinding all to what the bottom really is. Venezuela, Syria, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan come to mind. Understanding the reality of that kind of crisis is a bottom that will be extraordinarily difficult to climb out of. Fascism wears many faces at the moment.
@spitfire3dc Thank you Brian. You tell it like it is too, and I appreciate that very much.
I am not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. I can’t be. I joined the fight against HIV/AIDS when the heterosexual world was spitting on people like me. As a young woman, I could see the rage and love in both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. The main difference between those two men was how quick they wanted to reach the “mountain”. King was fighting for a place on the bus, and X was fighting to own the bus company. That’s a broad brush summary, but it sums it up nicely in my opinion.
Keep expressing yourself. You do a damn good job at it.
Politics are a symptom of an imperfect world, so it’s natural to get sick of it, but the world ain’t gonna unfuck itself.
Actually what if politics was put aside except for say 3 days out of the week within each of our lives for every man, woman, & child*? There might be more reflection and less knee-jerk pundit parrying.
@luftballooneyegouge I agree, taking time away from politics is a good thing; but not at this moment. The events from the past weekend, and the horrible response from our so called leader; it’s time to take action. But yes, time in the garden is needed…right now.

That is calling it like it is.

Peace and light to you, my friend from the North!

I find it extremely illuminating that ability is listed as a basis of privilege.
