They should understand deeply what love actually is.
To some, love is getting a gift wrapped in bows. To some it is sex. To some it is what you get, exclusive of what you give. To some it is the attention received. To some, it is the manifestation of want. The mixed up understanding of what love is, has resulted in why mankind keeps shooting itself in the foot.
Love is a dynamic reciprocity that starts with two engaging in outward expressions towards each other with no expectation for a response that they get anyway. It is an energy that we have the power to manifest only through an other centered orientation that allows us to selfishly receive. To me, it is one of the ultimate dichotomies.
@Scarlett
True love would seem to entail sticking by them for as long as absolutely possible, for the purpose of helping them [back?] into a more mature awareness of true love. Actually the feminine Archetypal Hero story is something akin to Beauty and the Beast!
But true wisdom would seem to mean accurately assessing a person before entering into a long-term intimate journey with them. “The oldies” probably had something with the idea of a prolonged courtship, and a longer “engagement” to actually get to know who this person is before playing hide-the-sausage with them.
Safeguarding the genetic heritage of our species . . . used to be a much more serious business before the 60’s.
@Scarlett Then love cannot be “made”. All you have is one person liking the other a lot. One may say “I love you” but they are really saying I like you…a lot.
Unless both are aiming their love at the trigger point; the explosion just ain’t gonna happen. Thing is that so few people can relate to it because they just haven’t experienced it. <maybe if we looked specifically for it; we'd be more likely to find it.
Now is all that fact, or just my opinion? Answer: my opinion and a fact as I relate to it.
@spitfire3dc walked away with the top answer with an awareness of what true love is.
So I will go with “who you really are”, as a starting point for understanding “who we really are”.
How to think rationally and critically would be a close runner-up, once the answer above is at least part-way hashed out.
(Because one cannot think rationally and critically while carrying baggage/demons triggering emotional reactions and altering perspectives.)
One should not suffer fools lightly…
You can shout from the roof tops all manner of information pertinent for life, but if no one is listening, either by choice or by ignorance, they shall perish by their own folly.
Everything the people in the world need to know… that I have seen…? They really do not need to know it, *and* there is an extremely high possibility that learning it would just drive them permanently mad.

@Scarlett The Greek philosopher Socrates said it best, “Question everything”.

@spitfire3dc what if the other half in the relationship isn’t giving? what then?
