Do you usually dress for comfort, fashion, appropriateness, cost efficiency, weather efficiency, or something else?
I am wearing a royal blue dress, for several reasons:
1) it brings out the red in my hair
2) I have to attend a meeting this morning and it is professional
3) I like dresses

I am wearing an old black t-shirt that says, “ONE PLANET ONE PEOPLE … PLEASE Baha’i Faith” and black pull-on jeans.
Being retired, it doesn’t matter what I wear around here. So, I have stacks of t-shirts and stacks of jeans and pants. I pick the top t-shirt from the stack and hope it matches with the top pants in the stack of pants, and goes with my socks.
I do wear dresses when I go to Baha’i meetings. I have a better grade of clothing to socialize with the other Baha’is, or when we go to socialize with Immortal Pirate’s son and daughter. I love to play with scarves and scarf-vests that are flowing. I love to wear zip-up boots.
I have Scottish Highland outfits to wear when I go out with Immortal Pirate when he is wearing one of his kilts. I have very Irish outfits to wear if I don’t feel Scottish. I have many pieces that are my “Pirate” clothing. Pirate coats, bucket boots, vests, billowy blouses, scarves, and several pirate hats. I have a belt with a holder that holds a fancy tea cup and saucer. Most Lady Pirates have a belt holding an ale mug, but not me. I prefer tea. My belt also holds a dirk, which is a foot long sword/knife. In my boot I have tucked a sken duh (pronounced skin-doo), it is a short knife that I use for cutting things. I am not one for fighting, but in a fight I would pull that little knife out of my boot and use it. I would not pull out the foot-long sword on anyone, because I am not that kind of lady. However, here in Arizona it is not against the law to carry guns, knives, and swords. They become part of the wardrobe, although most women here will carry a small gun in her purse. I prefer not to carry anything that goes … BOOM!!!
@ladybarbara that sounds like an interesting array! I like to have enough clothes so that it doesn’t feel like a rotation, and clothes are really the one thing I spend money on. I love that you and IP play dress up and go out into the world. Sounds eccentric!
@Scarlett2 Sometimes it feels eccentric, however, we go to festivals and parties where the other people are wearing the same clothing as we are. Sometimes at the parties, others will wear what seems to be a costume and the guy has a big plastic sword. Immortal Pirate pulls out a real sword. A costume is a costume, but when a jacket costs $400.00, or the boots cost a few hundred dollars, those things are considered clothing. When the sword is sharp and costs $700.00, it goes beyond costume. It is all fun and spices up life.
Wrestling t-shirt and blue jeans. When I go out, I change my shirt to a plain t-shirt (black, dark grey, dark blue green, or teal at the moment) so people won’t potentially have another reason to interact with me. I love me some graphic t-shirts, but I just don’t like wearing them out in public anymore. A few compliments and I am totally over it. I wear jeans because they are easier. You can be home or go about anywhere with them. I hate changing just because I am home, but I do wear the occasional sweat pants.
@yin that is intriguing. Maybe I should start dressing according to how or if I want to be interacted with. I like that idea! I read this morning that we shouldn’t wash our jeans…ever. If we need to clean them, we should spot clean them or take a shower with them on. Place in freezer to disinfect.
@Scarlett2 I heard that a while back but that came back up pretty recently. I still wash them. Mine last me a few years and I buy some of the cheaper kind, so I’m not sure what I would be accomplishing by not washing them. Lifetime guarantee kind of stuff? I kind of wonder why jeans would be treated differently. I don’t wonder enough to actually search it myself, lol, but it is odd that we would do that with jeans but not other kind of pants or shirts. Unless you’re suppose to with some, then ignore that and just assume I do that correctly. :)
@yin I think it has something to do with maintaining the fabric. There are so many different laundry rules, its hard for me to keep up with them sometimes…
