Our pain cycles keep us stuck. I think we can potentially be in a pain cycle with both people as well as other things, like consumerism etc.
Who or what are you in a pain cycle with? How will you get out of this, or will you?
I feel like three of my greatest pain cycles are related. I am in a pain cycle with both my sister and my two adult children. We all had traumatic upbringings. I feel I have survivor’s guilt. I feel like as a result when I sense some sort of instability in them, I think I have to do something. I also have the constant feeling of having never done enough or never having done the right things. I think I can get out of this by reminding myself that in the past, I did do something. I did something based on the resources and awareness I had at the time. Perhaps if I had done something different, there would have been different outcomes, but I cannot guarantee those outcomes would have been good or bad.
I also remind myself- because of this…. I remind myself of the rest of the story. Because of the traumatic events, I went on and led a pretty good life by some accounts.
I also remind myself that my suffering is not their suffering. Perhaps what I am sensing is not okay is okay for them. Who am I to judge?

Drunk driving an e-bike…
@LuftBalloonEyeGouge I have never tried either, but maybe you are being facetious. I always wanted to try e bike…
@Scarlett2
They’re fun, but they should be handled responsibly because, they’re really more like weeeeak motorcycles, than bicycles, and motorcycles are dangerous no matter what.
I fell off of the roof while reroofing the house. I cracked a disk in my spine. Talk about pain cycles. I live with pain every time I move my spine. I have knee injuries that have left me with bad knees since my teenage years. Playing hockey on roller skates, roller derby, dancing on roller skates, being a surfer, and a clown, even tried being a rodeo clown. All of it has abused my body and I live with the pains. I don’t take anything for pain. I just say, “Ouch!” a lot. That is my pain cycle.
