Gee, I guess I was wrong. So what did you put above wife &/or family? Money chasin’? What’re the minor procedures that you find acceptable to skip being with your family?
When the procedure is low risk, there’s really no need for me to reschedule things to accommodate it.
I have always taken personal life intrusions into my work schedule very seriously. I’m not the type of person always answering or talking on the cell phone at work, or leaving work to go run an errand, or leaving early or going in late for something.
Regarding what minor procedures… probably most minor outpatient procedures would qualify.
Now, I’m not saying this as some cold asshole, it’s just that life stuff happens. If it happened that I wasn’t working, then I would probably go with my wife and we would have a meal before or after, and make a small date of it or something.
Pretty sure all this seems pretty normal and regular.
My first reaction was to say something derogatory about him…and then on second thought…well it was still derogatory. Finally, during an attempt to consider anything positive I figured maybe Melania didn’t want him there, told him as much and he graciously accepted her request to make himself scarce.
I mean seriously, would you want an audience for any kind of surgical procedure with your Secret Service team, his secret service team, the guy with the briefcase with the nuclear launch button, Potus’s tweeting assistant…

I guess I have a naive notion that people who love each other would support each other with their presence during a frightening time no matter what. I’m actually glad that I don’t understand this one.
@luftballooneyegouge not all surgical procedures are frightening but the procedure that Melania was going through would suggest that the person you think loves you the most, would want to be there just before she went under and as soon as possible after she came to. Not sure narcissists can actually empathize with some one else’s needs though.
It was a surgery of her kidney to stop bleeding and perhaps remove a small growth that was benign. It required medical attention, but was not serious. She was surrounded with staff and security —– more people than she likes around her in times like this. President Trump tweeted at 5:00 pm that he was on his way to see her in Marine One, just a few minutes away. It is not like he abandoned her, or ignored her.
When I had a breast lumpectomy, my husband dropped me off at the hospital in the morning. When I was ready to be picked up, there was a Monday Night Football game on TV and he would not leave the house while the game was on. I took the bus home, stopping only to get a bag of frozen peas from the grocery store — to tuck into my bra for the pain. After the bus dropped me off at the corner, I had a 5 minute walk to our house. I burst in the front door and said, “WHAT THE HELL??!!” and my husband said, “Shhhhhh! The game is on.”
I am very sure that Immortal Pirate would not be so far away, if I had to undergo a medical procedure. His late wife had a small procedure —– and died, while he was waiting in the waiting room for her to come out. He knows that something could go wrong very easily. He would be there for me.
