@Scarlett In 1992, I spent 3 months in Russia with the Baha’i teaching tour called the Marion Jack Expedition. I got to see first hand how it is to live under Communist Socialism. The people had to stand in long lines that would take up hours of time just to get the daily meager box of government supplies given to all people. In 3 months, only once did they hand out toilet paper, and then it was only 10 squares off of a roll. All the government gave for the people to eat were potatoes. Potatoes every day for 3 months and no other food. I got so tired of potatoes that I can no longer stand to eat potatoes. As a result, I never eat french fries anymore. Potatoes cooked any style remind me of what Socialism feels like. It is depressing. I don’t want that here in the United States. I really appreciate the freedom of buying any kind of food I want in well stocked groceries stores in a Capitalist nation.
@ladybarbara to me that is a sad one and reminds me of women, like myself, who had daddy issues, and was always wondering if a man would love me? Unless I find some type of undying nourishment inside myself I will never be happy.
@Scarlett At one point, I would have said “Yes, I absolutely am.” I’m sure that would have been a lie. But I’ll be super honest….when I think about it, I am not exercising my potential the way I could be. At best, I’m working towards the possibility of some sort of life that I can be accepting of. I’ve been quite lazy for quite awhile. Getting by seems to be the big goal for me. This song is a nice thought though. I do believe that if you want something, you should do what you can to get it. Go after your goals if you have them.
