DONKEY:
Hey, hey, hey! You gotta let me go with you!
You don’t know what it’s like to be considered a freak!
Well maybe you do.
But that’s why we gotta stick together!
No, no, no! Don’t speak, don’t speak, don’t speak!
Just hear me out! I might surprise you.
I’ll be a friend, when others despise you.
Don’t roll your eyes! Stop with the mopin’.
You need a pal! My calendar’s open!
I’ll bring you soup, when you feel congested.
I’ll bail you out, when you get arrested!
I got your back, wha-wha-what, when things get scary.
And I’ll shave it, when it gets hairy!
Don’t let me go!
Don’t let me go!
Don’t let me go! (oh oh oh oh)
You need me!
You need me!
I’ll treat you right, and never get shoddy.
If you kill a man, I’ll hide the body!
So what do you say’ You’re not responding…
I think we’re bonding!
Don’t let me go.
Don’t let me go.
Don’t let me go! (oh oh oh oh)
You need me.
You, you and me, we belong together.
Like butter and grits,
Like kibbles and bits,
Like yin and yang,
Sturm and Drang,
Like Eng and Chang, attached at the hip
But not an old lady hip that might break
I’m gonna be on you like a fat kid on cake!
DONKEY (spoken):
Like Cupid and Psyche, like pop rocks and Mikey,
we’ll stick together like that Velcro stuff, I’m the fuzzy side; you’ll be the spiky.
Ooh! Like little kids and pajamas with those funny things at the bottom, you know, feeties.
Like donuts and’ oh, what goes with donuts’
DONKEY:
Donuts and diabetes!
Don’t let me go!
Don’t let me go!
Don’t let me go!
Don’t let me go!
Hold me! Hug me! Take me, please!
Na-na-na-na-na-na, please don’t let me go!
I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you,
I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need you!
Don’t let me go, Go! Go! Don’t let me g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-go!

To me, a good friend thinks about you when you are not around. They think about you and will on occasion just call out of the blue and will say something like, “I was thinking about something you said (or did, or related…) and I figured I’d just call…because.

Why? To me, that illustrates that when you were together you were engaged in the moment.

    Something I heard years ago.

A good friend will hold your hair up while you puke your guts out from drinking too much . . . and then laugh at your dumb ass for getting so drunk in the first place!

They will say the things to you that you need to hear, but nobody else can/will say to you.

@griz too bad others aren’t always able to see the advice given is good or for the best. My “friend” was pressuring me to take out loans to help pay for his restaurant deal. I’ve tried to tell him tgat it was doomed to fail, but he can’t listen, he won’t listen. He asked me to open an account for that purpose, but i did so in such a way that it could never overdraft. He wanted me to get an actual checking account that I could bounce checks against. (It’s the only reason he wanted me to get such an account… i have no reason to write checks *ever*) Tried getting loans, they failed (which i kinda knew they would, not going to lie on my application.) He wanted my info, so he could scam the system, say i made more money than i did to get loans. Told him no. He needs to face reality

It sounds like he does. But you may not be the person he will see it through. Sometimes we are; but often we are not.

You are wise to protect yourself against him mooching off your credit. I was once part of a group that “rescued” a 25 y.o. of rather naive functionability from his parent’s basement where they had been urging him to get credit cards and take out loans that they then maxed out living a lifestyle they couldn’t afford. They had already destroyed their credit rating.

This poor fellow was on the hook for more than he could have made in decades. We got him some bankruptcy protection and a recovery plan.

They eventually played the “Do you not love us anymore” card over him and get him consigned back to their basement against. If blood can do this to blood, be aware of what someone who is not blood might do.
