I think it was food poisoning that came after a nice restaurant meal. I awoke the next day feeling really bad. I remembered that my Grandma’s cure for food poisoning was to get more food going through your system —- even though you don’t want more food. Even if more food makes you throw up, throwing up cleans out your stomach. I just keep eating and making myself move to keep my system moving along. Immortal Pirate has only seen me really sick once in the last 6 years. I got a kidney infection 2 years ago and Immortal Pirate bought me some cranberry juice.
That infection knocked me for a loop. I remember getting out of bed and trying to walk to the bathroom —– but, the bed kept getting in my way. I stood up and in stepping forward, I turned to the right and ran into the bed I had just got out of. No matter how hard I tried to go forward, I kept veering off to the right. I had an ear infection and horrid headache. I used the bathroom and then crawled back to bed. Once in bed, I did not drink water. I went back to sleep. Hours later, I impressed on Immortal Pirate that I was seriously sick and hurting. That is when he went to the store and bought me cranberry juice. He is my hero.
@ladybarbara Ironically enough I’m the type of a person who hates waste. If I’m going to eat something I’m only going to waste my time and effort consuming it if it’ll stay down.
@Jear77 Sometimes the things he says trying to be funny were funny when he said them. However, when I read them without seeing the smile in them, it is strict and almost mean — if it was said in a harsh tone. However, he did not mean it to be harsh. He’s like a heckling grandpa.
@Jear77 What kind of medication? Pepto Bismol? I hope you are not trying heavy medications just for food poisoning. Drink sweet tea. If you throw up the tea, at least it tastes OK when it comes back up. It will flush out your stomach in one direction, or the other —– depending on if it stays and goes through you, or if it gets thrown up.
@Jear77 I use foods that usually clog me up to stop diarrhea. For me, Oreo cookies will constipate me. I know that Oreo cookies are not natural. They don’t grow in the wild. However, they are a nice medicine for stopping the flow of diarrhea. Then, there is banana. Banana!!! The Minions prescribe them.
@ladybarbara The “natural” stuff he gave me? Most people wouldn’t even call it medicine. It’s clay. And fiber. And probiotics. I’m also taking Pepto. and generic Tylenol (for fever). I’m tackling it from EVERY angle so it has NOWHERE to hide! I’ll eat some cheese. I know that will help clog me up. Before today I couldn’t eat normally. If i did it wouldn’t stay down. I’m FINALLY feeling a *bit* better! I hope that means that whatever I have is exiting my body.
@Jear77 Oh wow! You really must have picked up a life threatening bug of some sort. I hope you will be feeling better soon. I hope the antibiotics do the trick.
tis allergy season for us here now so our sinuses and throats and eye balls are a fire
doing what we can as naturally as possible to get through, and hiking less :D
@BelleMadre understood. Staying indoors as much as possible here too. But *more* due to the heat than allergies. I have them tho if exposed to too high of a dose of pollen.
@BelleMadre I can stand the heat… in limited doses. I’ve often gone out in earlier years walking at night to get stuff done, but if I work the night shift that doesn’t work out so much…
@Jear77 i can understand that. the blessing of living in a 5th floor apartment is when its crazy hot indoors, at least in the evening the balcony is nice and cool

Define sick…
I have a sick sense of humor…does that count?
@immortal_pirate you might have taken the benefit “damn healthy.” Check your character sheet for more details.

I was very ill last winter with bronchitis. I was going through a lot of changes and stress at the time, and think it come down to homeostasis
@Scarlett basically if you’re thrown out of balance, you get sick easier.

@ladybarbara I had taken immodium AND pepto. It was too much for me. My dad gave me some natural stuff to help *ahem* clog me up

@Jear77 Cheese is a good medication for diarrhea. I hope you get back to health soon.
@ladybarbara I ended up at the doctor’s office the other day. I’m on antibiotics

@ladybarbara i’ve been doing a LOT better since taking them.
@Jear77 That is wonderful news!!!! We will get our ol’Jear-Jear back in good condition again.
@ladybarbara i am on the mend, but i was beginning to wonder if i’d ever get rid of it!
@Jear77 It sounds like you had something a person could die of. I am glad you are catching it in time to get a real cure for it.

@Jear77 it is hard because it is a beautiful time of year but we need to survive right?!
