Who Are You?

If anybody wants to reply. I know some about the people here, but not a lot of basics: where do you work, what defines you, etc.

I will go first:
Recovering alcoholic and schizophrenic. I work in computer security as a consultant. I help secure systems and networks. I am 49, but look younger then my age. I have four kids and a loving wife.

Interesting and off beat:
I have spied before, gathered intelligence from foreign (Chinese) hackers, whom I befriended. I also have had some miracles happen in my life, which is what truly defines me.

My schizophrenia used both facts to create delusions I believed for awhile. (Like that my coworkers were spies or angels, which is not true).

I like cinema (including television) and take it seriously.) I also like video games.

I am very well read.

Major current hobby is helping people on some Christian subreddit’s, counseling those who want to seek God, or have problems in their lives. I find a lot of fulfillment in that.

I do not go to church, but am a big AA’r.

@Fletch Fair terms — what do you do for a living?

      Using your model:
I am 49 (but oddly look a lot younger)
I work in computer security, work at home
I am married over twenty years
      4 kids, oldest 28… 20, 12, 15
All girls but for the 15 year old
I live in Houston suburb Sugar Land
Hobbies: watching television, playing video games, posting online — I really like posting to help people in trouble, on christian subreddits
sober close to seven months now — seven months tomorrow

Was a schizophrenic alcoholic, which is a bad kind. I also abused cough syrup. I mean drink like two bottles at a time, where it becomes a hallucenogenic that lasts for days.

Been in four institutions past two years. Lost almost every job I had over the past ten years to my illnesses. It was bad, but I hid both pretty well. That was a struggle.

The schizophrenia caused me to believe immense delusions. I was reading code in things that were not code. I thought my coworkers were angels or spies.

I have had experience with both angels and spies, for real, but I elaborated – on my own- far past the pale.

72 and single Native American that passes for white. Female. I have two sons 54 and 52. They live far away in California. I am retired. I don’t drink, or smoke. I am loosely a Baha’i. The Baha’is decided that they did not like me co-owning a house with Immortal Pirate , nor having a relationship and not being married —– so, I am no longer on speaking terms with the Baha’i Faith. I am a decent person. I just don’t think a group of people (the Baha’is) should be telling me how they think I should live. I live a quiet life. I enjoy gardening and cooking. I live in a suburban community just West of Phoenix, AZ. I live with Immortal Pirate. We do many things together – parties, theater, festivals, and getting together with friends.

Right now, Immortal Pirate is fighting cancer. So, that is our #1 concern right now.

  3. I am an immortal and will continue to believe such. I am a survivor. Prostate cancer is just a kick to the groin that will NOT defeat me. I am a warrior, and I will fight this battle and I will win.
I need not post personal information about myself here. Most of you already know enough about me, where I came from, that I have loved and lost, and have produced offspring in abundance. Perhaps prostate cancer is God punishing me for the sins of my youth; having been quite prolific in re-populating several third world countries…fortunately, none of my sins have shown up on my door step asking, “Are you my daddy?”

I actually live a rather quiet life now. Lady Barbara and I enjoy our retirement together and the freedoms that come with it, to go where we please, and engage in activities that bring us a sense of joy.
