A ride or die person is someone who will stick with you through any problems. They are there for you through thick and thin, because they would rather ride with you or die trying. Do you have ride or die people? I hope you do! Conversely, are you anyone’s ride or die person? How did you come by this dynamic?

I do, and have done. Lady Barbara is my rider.
I had another and He died for me a long time ago…He was crucified by the Romans. I only hope that when my time comes, He will say the same for me, that I died for him.
@immortal_pirate Lady Barbara is certainly a good one to have by your side!
@Scarlett2 I will pick him up if he falls. (After we both stop laughing.)
I think my ride or die person is Immortal Pirate. I also have a cousin Sue-Sue that has stuck by me through thick and thin all of my life. These two have my back.
@ladybarbara I think it is great you guys are there for each other. In my life, for a long time, I did not have many people I could depend on at all. If they were not actively hurting me, they were at least weren’t there.
I have what you describe, too. One of the best part is that my grown children are that for me now, too. Everyone always laments the fact that their kids are growing up, but I see it as a beautiful thing.
@Scarlett2 I am happy to know that you found a good man, too. You deserve it.
@Scarlett2 I had a housemat/roommate that watched my house when I went to Arizona to visit Immortal Pirate. For this, she had free rent of her room and run of the house. However, when it was time for me to sell my house and move to Arizona, I gave her most of my house furnishings to start her out on her own life. She decided to hate me and called me horrid names everyday. I shut down and stopped talking to her. As she packed and stored the furnishings, kitchen wares, I gave her, I pretended that she did not exist. She called me names and I did not react as if I heard her. We had a giant break up. When I was all moved out, I left and did not bother with good-bye. She was my die person who ceased to exist in my world.
@ladybarbara Update on this. Sue Sue and I have parted ways. She moved so far to the left that one more step and she will fall off the edge of the Earth. She is an avid fan of The View and loves everything Joy Behar says. She believes it is OK to take an innocent child and mutilate their body to force them to be the opposite sex. Everything President Trump does, she supports the opposing view. I don’t want to argue with a person that deep in insanity. She calls and spends 3 hours with hate Trump – hate Trump – hate Trump. She and Rosy O’Donnell would get along great. I simply have nothing more to say to her, and have gone silent. I am not the only family member to shut her out and now she has no one left to vent on.
They all left.
@Squirrel You can find more. Look for safe people. Think of what a safe person would be like. What characteristics would they have? Conversely, what characteristics would you need in order to be safe for them?
@Scarlett2 a balance of acceptance and criticism of substance use, shared interests, a sense of humor, emotional vulnerability, schedule availability, possible geographic proximity, and the desire to be friends. Got ideas based on that?
@Squirrel I am afraid I am not following what you mean about a balance between acceptance and criticism of substance use. Do you want someone who will not judge you, but offer constructive criticism as needed? It may be that you meet a safe person who doesn’t judge you, but sets a boundary that they don’t want the substances used around them or doesn’t want to be around you while you’re under the influence. Then there are others who may be completely accepting of it. Why did the former friends leave? Were there any that left a door open to continue the friendship under any certain circumstances?
@Scarlett2
Good lord – you think that pirate and the stink have another answer? what did you think their answers were going to be?
@Tits PHphphphphphphphphphphpht!
