Why all ideologies are totalitarian

Hold on to your socks because this includes religion feminism capitalism socialism scientism BLM GBLTQQIPP NRA-“gunnism” and many more.

For starters our society’s preferred form of thinking, scientific empiricism, cannot get a handle on these things, because they are subjective constructs; and the scientific process is designed to filter out and ignore subjectivity. That is why these ideologies essentially “make no sense” and often use scientific empiricism as their twisted play thing.

Phenomenology uses a three-tiered system of perceiving existence: the transcendent environment, the social construct, and the private but very real self.

All of these ideologies presume the social construct is the All-Powerful pre-eminent: that it does and should override and overwrite the transcendent environment and the private personal reality. (And “zombie” ideologues are formed when the latter happens, and function similar to viruses)
In the more extreme cases they are often heard complaining that the existing social order is oppressive against them and therefore evil, and that their good social construct should override and replace it. Or are heard defending in apologetics, existing preferred ideologies insisting than anything that stands against them is evil.

But this is a dopey and simplistic way of looking at existence; preferred by those allergic to deep thought.

The tanscendent environment existed first. Then the self-conscious individual. And lastly the social construct, as a naturally emergent consequence of organic reaction between the first two.

The battle of the ideologies gets it exactly ass backwards, and tries to enforce this with totalitarian reasoning and zeal.

Which BTW, is exactly what Nietzsche predicted would happen over a hundred years ago in his lament about the death of God.

Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? Christian thought is “you’re for god or against him.” Why can’t there be an option 3? Do what you will. If it affects me, i’ll deal with it at that time.

For starters that is what the animals do and all that they do ( instinctive motivation in the moment). I’m not a huge fan of frittering away amazing assets; or denying oneself a possible grand destiny that is within reach with just a bit of effort.

There is truth in the aphorism that the person who never runs the race will never win the prize.

And the person running by their lonesome is just as likely to be running away from something as toward something.

Especially if they are doing it with no intention beyond satisfying instinct and feeling.

It may be superior to serving Just an asshole self!

No, the goal is to be as fully actualized as possible within the range of games that make up being. (A condition we only have the faintest inklings of; because our hammer of science cannot hit that nail on the head — or even see it!)

And this goal cannot be seen let alone achieved, while one is nursing truckloads of resent against something that does not exist. (An “asshole God” based on a lacking religious model).

@griz the point is that god wins no matter if he is good or evil incarnate. He literally is incapable of loosing *anything* – so i have nothing to lose by not playing

Apparently He has made himself capable . . . of losing you.

And that’s a significant and mournful loss.

(Sorry, I remember your telling me not to concern myself. But I just cannot turn that off like a switch. Especially for people I have known for as long as you)

@griz actually not. If such a deity exists, he knew it would happen the moment things went the way they did; if it were so mounful, he would have intervened. One more lost soul means nothing to such a being

“If you love something set it free . . . ”

You keep trying to say that which is good is evil and that which is evil is good.

@griz you would too if you were but to open your eyes. All the suffering, all the madness, all the death that could have been avoided by choosing not to play the game, especially one the outcome was set before the universe came into existence.

Do you truly think I don’t see all of these things?
I just have a highly effective reconciliation tactic that doesn’t necessitate burying my head in the sand of “myself”.

The games happen, regardless of whether one’s head is buried or not. And being blind to them enables a lot of them to overtake and “infect” our internal process to the point where greater actualization of oneself is functionally impossible.

And more than a few of them given such headblind liberties in us . . . are actually pathological: effectively winding the clock back on our progress.

PS. remember the “debate format” I proposed. These exchanges for me, are still providing valuable catalyst to think, to learn, to explore, to study, to increase my level of self-actualization.
If you are not enjoying the same, call “final argument” and both of us will “live to discuss/debate another day”.

@griz then why do you see existence as a good thing, when the game was won, and need not be played to begin with? Far better nonexistence, emptiness… I can’t reconcile that with the fact if nothing were, nothing could be, andsince rhere is existence, bad things *will* be!

Because of sufficient good to mitigate the bad.

But refer to some of the threads I have been offering of late, of how our motivation creates behind-the-scenes processes of what we are allowed to see and not see.

If I simply change “good” to “Truth” I am allowed to see both Good and Evil, but with the motivation of finding the good.

And if we want to wax totally scientifically, non-existence didn’t work! For if it did existence never would have happened. That’s just an evolutionary truth.

@griz i would disagree. The negative things, the dark things far outweighs the good, starting with the certainty of death. If the entire world is dark and there is no sun, and the only light source you have is a single candle, can you expect to illuminate the entire world? How soon before the light is extinguished?

You are clearly a very negative person; very affected by negative emotions. Consider what I’ve been offering about how our focus (both inherent and nurtured) can actually program our Id and Superego’s perceptions and motivations without our conscious (Ego) awareness — causing us to over-represent even minor occurrences of things we’ve sent them looking for, and to be almost preternaturally blind to even blatant examples of things deemed to be working against the goal we’ve programmed them with.
And everything else fades into unimportant dismissibility.

A big part of why I identify so strongly with you (and perhaps you with me, for we keep talking?) is that as you are, I once was. And I value the paradigm I do because it transformed me out of that.

So perhaps it comes down to just how much one “treasures” a persistently negative mindset? It is a HUGE drain on the resources if nothing else. If something can provide relief to the suffering and add purpose, maybe parts of it that we cannot exactly parse in the moment, are worth taking on faith for a season?

But a recompense that evaporates, is more the function of a thief.

Love, joy, peace and purpose greater than self (plus some arguably “supernatural” ability to control the more troublesome aspects of our nature, negative emotions, fear of death and worse, of having to take responsibility for ourselves!) . . . are quite the “down-payment”.

And if it gets better than than that . . . bonus!!

Well, a birthday wish? I’m at a loss. Wishing that your dreams come true . . . right now . . . would not be doing you a kindness.

@griz one more thing. I’m just as sad as you are if not more it came to this. But a god I can’t trust in the smallest things in life… ought not be trusted with anything more – such a deity needs to be opposed at every turn. It’s like the parable of the man who had one talent… but in this case god is the one who is doing the burying it like yesterday’s trash. And it’s just not me, this type of thing happens around the world for every life circumstance – everything from marriage, to disease and health issues, to job searching, to weight loss, to addiction. The list goes on and on. At day’s end it goes back to the 73% that would prove that what’s happening is not placebo. And with my soul at stake, it’s either 73% across the board or billions of dollars. His choice.

I enjoy our exchanges. And even if you tell me not to bother caring, I somehow cannot help but caring.

My drive is not to change or proselytize you back into a religion. I am really not a fan of those! But I recognize that you are trying to replace something that you lost, and looking in some places that I know no good will come from.

But that’s “final argument”, and if you want you get the final word.

I missed you when you left for a while, and would rather that not happen again.

        Happy birthday.
