Fake news is a problem that “Get Out” writer/director Jordan Peele in collaboration with BuzzFeed hopes to fix ― by literally putting words in the mouth of former President Barack Obama.
In a public service announcement created by Peele and BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti and disseminated on social media on Tuesday, Obama appears to be giving a sincere but stern address.

Truth.
In almost all cases these are examples of trying to control others unto an agenda’s purpose. Specifically to control their emotions. Because an emotional person is easy to manipulate.
And the very effective vaccine against this is self control. Again, specifically control of your emotions.
That doesn’t mean not having them; but not being “had” by them. Which admittedly, takes a lot of conscious effort.
And this should sit as a supporting substrata beneath your choosing reliable news sources, comparing the story from different sources, and letting things develop rather than jumping to conclusions.
If the story is trying to pull on your emotions, take a moment and examine that. Good storytelling accesses the emotions. But remote control tries to access them in specific ways that disrespect the individual, for specific purposes; that tend to wind you up in release you in a certain direction. It is a particularly dastardly tactic used by liberal arts professors at universities to send forth hordes of sjws to do their bidding.
And that’s when self-control leads to click in.
Also notice the individual person, and the platform they represent. Such attempts to manipulate indicate a very fundamental lack of respect for you; and are also a good indication that they doubt the truth of what they are sharing.
Truth doesn’t need to rely on manipulation to arrive at it. If someone tries this with you, knock them down a rung or two on the respectability ladder.
And if it’s a source you want to respect and trust, why not drop them a note reminding them that if they want intelligent viewers they shouldn’t insult their intelligence!
