Social media has its uses, but it also seems to have brought about illustrations of social behaviour that make clear some of the prevalent characteristics of humanity.
There is one thing in particular that really bothers me and that is this trend (is it?) to share things like animal abuse with the intention of publicizing the person responsible and then spewing out hateful rhetoric towards them.
We see this behaviour between liberals and conservatives, husbands and wives, environmentalists and pure capitalists. Pick an opposition and you can observe the behaviour.
It seems that this is actually an example of immaturity. Does a good parent fight “fire with fire” when their children illustrate negative characteristics? Some do, but do we accept that that isn’t the solution to raise a productive person over the long term?
Maybe it isn’t. Sociologists seem to have categorized a generation that was raised with a sense of self entitlement, based on looser expectations. There are probably more reasons behind that than parents refraining from angry corrections, but it has to start somewhere.
All I know is that when I see a person violently castigating another for their violent (to whatever degree) actions, that I see the same degree of nonacceptance, as I do for the original behaviour. it makes the acts twice as ugly, versus half, or cancelling out entirely, the original misdeed.
There is another, bigger issue that is being shown daily. That is the issue of caring being seen as a weakness. What do you think is behind this? if its fear, then what is behind the fear? And what is behind that? And possibly behind that? if we don’t figure out the root cause, its only going to get worse. Or should we even bother trying to get better as a race? Does that just lead to exploitation by other who choose to take advantage of the lull?

There has been a pervasive human trend throughout history to demonize others, for the sole purpose of proving oneself is not a demon.
To rage against “a monster” is a desperate bid to distance oneself from their own monstrous tendencies.
It’s trying to take the spotlight off one’s own failings and shine it on someone seen as failing far worse!
And this has even become a form of entertainment! The other night in a truck stop I was very dismayed to see a police drama on the television being watched by many in silent approval. For their entertainment, a tale of child predation was being re-enacted. (Or it might have been total fiction as well).
But they found it entertaining to watch child actors pretending they had been sexually ravaged — just so they could do the monster! How was this not just a continuation or perpetration of child abuse by the viewers??
And this was a very popular TV series watched by millions (CSI).
This . . . is entertainment?? This is what one “deserves” and rewards themselves with after a hard day’s work???
As for the lack of caring issue?
Caring for another can leave one vulnerable. The pervasive fear is of vulnerability/liability; of the depletion of one’s own resources.
The cure for this is to be rich enough in love and practiced enough in forgiving and healing, that one can “afford” to throw it around with a bit of abandon.

I feel like there is this online subculture of accepted meanness and i think it is just as damaging as toxic people in person. or more so. because it doesnt feel to come with cause. That speaks of entitlement to me. even children on line feel they are entitled to act as horrid as they can and its their right? thats Wrong man! in schools there are zero tolerance bullying acts and online there is bullying without consequence. because people are prone to this? thatsawholelotta healing needed!
